When you do you hit a tennis ball? rise, falling...? Hey everyone, so I'm a beginner to tennis. At what point do you want to hit a tennis ball, for both backhand and forehand? Do you hit it when the ball is falling, rising, or just before it starts falling (at the peak of its height).

The commentators always talk about taking the ball on the rise. If the ball is dropping you may be too late unless you're a pro who knows what they are doing. Course you don't want the ball to get to your shoulders, so don't let it bounce to high.
