 Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics
1 day to go!
Here was the standing four years ago in Turin, Italy:
Rank Nation Gold Silver Bronze Total 1 Germany (GER) 11 12 6 29 2 United States (USA) 9 9 7 25 3 Austria (AUT) 9 7 7 23 4 Russia (RUS) 8 6 8 22 5 Canada (CAN) 7 10 7 24 6 Sweden (SWE) 7 2 5 14 7 South Korea (KOR) 6 3 2 11 8 Switzerland (SUI) 5 4 5 14 9 Italy (ITA) 5 0 6 11 10 France (FRA) 3 2 4 9 10 Netherlands (NED) 3 2 4 9
The battle between the top 5 nations will be fierce once again, but with Canada as the host, I'd give them an advantage.

 Re: Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics
I'm rooting for:
Shaun White Rachel Flatt Jeremy Abbott Johnny Weir Evan Lysacek Bebin/Augusto Shen/Zhao Mike Ando
That's pretty much it. Course, I hope the US Ski team and the rest of the snowboard team do well. I like watching the luge, bobsled and most of the skiing events too. Maybe some curling too.

 Re: Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics
I'm very excited about the upcoming 16 days, and CTV has 22.5 hours of coverage daily so I think I'll be prepared and its going to be on about 7 other networks too.
Other than the Canadian contingent, I'm rooting for Shen/Zhao to win gold but they'll face stiff competition from the Germans.
Looking forward to Brian Williams on CTV, not looking forward to Michael Landsberg or Rod Black.

I'm rooting for that as well, though I should have been rooting for the Cauldron to actually work. That'd been nice too.

 Re: Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics
You'd think they'd have tested out a hydraulic system before the actual ceremony. Guess not.

yeah all they do is smoke pot and drink on the west coast of Canada and then go ranting about how they love the environment.

 Re: Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics
I didn't enjoy the opening singer of Oh Canada. They could have had Celine Dion or Shania Twain do that. I liked the presentation of the aboriginal peoples. I enjoyed the graphics projected onto the surface during the event. The whales, the leaves, the water and such. I did not get all the tap dancing and fiddle playing. I enjoyed the poem by some youtube guy. I didn't get the guy flying in the air with the tall grass below him. The final lighting of the torch was a disappointment.

I didn't get to see the fail, I had switched over to the Pitt/WVU game that just didn't want to end.

 Re: Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics
I really don't care about these Olympics at all. Winter Olympics always held a lesser interest to me, but this time there's no interest at all. Oh yeah, the opening ceremony sucked.
