 Re: 2009 College Football Season
They ought to use their timeouts now since there are no first downs unless a penalty occurs.

even if texas losses this game, they should be happy because they are watching this freshman qb grow up and is looking like he will be a very good player.

 Re: 2009 College Football Season
4 straight National Championships now for the SEC
5 in the past 7 years for the SEC
And since the BCS started in 1998 there has been
7 out of 12 champions have been from the SEC.
That's what you call a dominating conference.

What an underwhelming way to end the college football season.

You can't make that argument (neither can you make an argument for Bama as the so called National Champion. However Boise should be considered for #2. But BCS apologists like Jim will try to brainwash once again the nation and simply say "Oh Texas lost their QB, so they are #2' and that's that.

Congrats to Bama Even though they got lucky with Colt going down. But that's part of the game and I shouldn't be bitter. that would be awwwsome if invites Boise I hope he does it.

I'm not a BCS apologist either. I would love a playoff.

However you made a lot of pro-BCS teams statement during the season, so I used you as an example which was ill-advised. Anyhow, if you read the people who published their AP list, they all made that apologist statement for putting Texas ahead of Boise (and Florida too)

Texas wins by 10 if McCoy isn't hurt.

 Re: 2009 College Football Season
Quote: He was a member of the USC coaching staff from 2001 to '06, first as wide receivers coach and then as offensive coordinator under Carroll.
After only one season at Tennessee Lane Kiffin is headed to Southern California. Kiffin will bring his father and defensive coordinator, Monte Kiffin, and assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron to Southern California with him. That's why.

Obviously... but I just assumed he was too controversial for them. How do you think he'll handle the USC scandal? Norm Chow would have been a much wiser choice.

 Re: 2009 College Football Season
Chip Munkington wrote: Obviously... but I just assumed he was too controversial for them. How do you think he'll handle the USC scandal? Norm Chow would have been a much wiser choice. Norm Chow - Quote: He left USC in spring 2005, after unsuccessfully interviewing for the Stanford University head coaching vacancy, for a job offer to be the offensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans. Their head coach, Jeff Fisher, was a USC graduate.
Chow was the Titans' offensive coordinator from 2005 to 2007. During this time, the Titans had non-losing seasons in 2006 (8-8) and 2007 (10-6), and appeared in the 2007 AFC Playoffs. In 2007, the Titans were 21st overall in total offense, with a total of nine touchdown passes.[4]
On January 15, 2008, after being fired by the Titans following the 2007 season, Chow was hired by new UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel as offensive coordinator So Chow spent time with the Titans but didn't really light their offense on fire and he was fired. Now, he's at UCLA and they were pretty bad this season. Plus, he's old and his hiring wouldn't have been such a headliner compared to this (wth type) hiring that Kiffin is imo. I don't like a coach jumping after 1 season. It's traitorous on some level. I think he's going to be in a difficult situation down the road, but USC will be fine next year with Barkley coming back. He wouldn't be taking this job unless he was promised a good length of time to counteract the possible sanctions USC may get assuming they are hefty ones that could impact his performance as the coach. Plus, he must be getting good coin to go there too.

 Re: 2009 College Football Season
wow, they won't lose recruits. They've got the best recruiter in the nation in orgeron. a defensive guru in Monte, brought back their best offensive coordinator in Chow, and have one of the hot young coaches.
This couldn't have worked out better for USC

I think it is traitorous jumping ship after 1 season. Also, I wonder if he is leaving because he is facing investigations at Tennessee.
