Well, that show was just Good for me Dog =; .

Benny's grading scale:
Stunning
Excellent
Good
OK
Fair
Crap

So, tonight I put everyone into the Good category, with three exceptions. I thought Constantine was just OK and his vocal limitations showed in the singing of that song. I thought Jared was Fair and his vocals were all over the place. And finally, I thought Judd was just OK and really hope he has more to offer than just that one-dimensional performance.

I think Jared and maybe Bo (folks will vote for the more charismatic Constantine) or Nikko could be going home on Wednesday.

I look forward to tomorrow and hope that one of the girls can impress me.

By the way, I see the early pimping of Mario developing at the hand of the judges, which makes my prediction that he would go very far, all the more possible.

I'm not sure which one is Mario but it's clear from tonight's show that several of those boys are playing for the same team.

I'm still waiting for that openly gay Idol.

Yeah, whether it from vocal strength or song selection that episode was just plain boring.

My favourites on the night were Anwar and Bo, the rest didn't make a positive impact on me. Nikko went for too much, and the rest of them picked boring songs except for that Judd guy who did an okay impersonation of someone in Vegas. I don't like this new format because as the judges said again and again they were all safe. When you are just eliminating 2 people a week, you aren't really going out there to knock it out of the park. You're just going to do enough to get by without any glaring errors. I was disappointed with David and wasn't impressed with Travis either. And Mario, is this seasons judges Fantasia.

On Wednesday I could see any combination of Nikko, Bo, Jared, Jonathan? (whoever did How am I supposed to live with you) going, and I still won't care any more than I do know.

Hopefully the ladies tomorrow will impress me.

I'm not feeling this season at all. [-(

No one really stood out tonight besides the teacher and the two rockers and even then, I wasn't blown away.

Christine and I didn't even vote tonight, which is odd considering last season we averaged a few hundred votes per episode.

Cotton's Idol Rant

Finally, after a LONG audition process, we get to see the really competition begin! For me, it was a bit of a mixed bag.

I think Anwar and Mario are definitely in a different league then the rest. Hell, if anyone can make "Moon River" sound that good, they deserve the top honor right here and now. As for Mario, he seems poised to be labeled the second coming of Guarini. The guy knows how to perform and sell himself to the voting public. I'm very excited to see how those two will do later on in the competition.

As for the rockers (Bo and Constantine), well, if we're keeping score here, it was definitely a KO for Bo Brice (best name on Idol EVER!). He picked a good rock song that was American Idol friendly, and just fell right into his groove with it. Constantine picked a good song too, but the results were, um, less inspiring. There were some good moments, but it was mostly off pitch and out of tune. His charisma and pre-bulit-fanbase (could he have been more over-exposed during the audition process) still give him a lead over Bo though (hehe, "Bo though").

As for the rest. Scott Savol has a great voice, but he definitely needs a Clay-style make-over and pick better songs. Nikko delivered a strong performance yet lacks stage presence and star quality. Anthony, Joseph, Travis and David need to step it up a bit and pick songs that aren't, well, crap. And Jared...needs to be voted out.

I don't really know what to say about Judd. I mean if JPL made it as far as he did last season, then this guy definitely deserves a shot. However, being compared to JPL, well, isn't necessarily a compliment to say the least.

On Wednesday, I think Jared will be cut, along with either Travis, David or Joseph. Nikko could be sent packing as well, but I have a feeling that the voters will see the uplift in his performance. As for Anthony and Constantine, they will be spared due to their pre-built fan bases from the auditions. My gut right now says that it'll be Jared and David who get canned, but I'm not sure.

Huh? What?

Oh, sorry I feel asleep. At least Nadia, Mikalah, and Aloha were interesting.

Don't get me wrong, some of these girls are hot or at least cute in a shopping mall sort of way. If this was American Orgy, I'd be sold.

The only ones that stood out for me were Vonzell, Carrie, Aloha and Nadia.

Carrie stole the show EASILY with smooth and powerful vocals, both in the low and high registers. =D>

Ratings:
Vonzell - Good
Amanda - OK
Janay - Crap - Jitters got the better of her to say the least :scared:
Carrie - Excellent - Best in the competition as of right now
Sarah - Fair - Disappointing, as she was one of my favourites. Bad song choice.
Melinda - Fair
Nadia - Good
Celena - OK
Mikalah - Fair #-o
Lindsey - Good - I really like this girls voice
Jessica - Good
Aloha - Good

I see Janay going definitely. As for the other girl, it could be any one of Melinda, Sarah or Celena I think.

As well as Carrie did tonight, I fear how she will fare with the individual theme-of-the-week songs. She'll have a real challenge adapting her voice to different genres.

A bit better than last night, with a few performances that I might try and find on the net. Nadia and Carrie are the standouts for me in this group. Aloha was good too, just the song didn't do a lot for her vocals. Vonzell would be fourth, but I kept on comparing her version of Heatwave to Kimberely Locke's and K.Lo blew her away.

Mikalah was the worst, scary eyes and I couldn't understand most of what she was singing in the beginning. Janay looked scared out of her mind on the stage tonight and it showed in her voice - I don't get the judges were saying about the song being too old for her, I think she was older than Jessica was when she sang it. Janay just doesn't have the range.

Lindsey had one of the worst song choices, it was uber boring and didn't do anything for her. She still has a great voice and I hope she makes it through to next week to hear her sing something exciting, or at least not sleep inducing.

Dammit! I didn't realize the guys were on yesterday. My DVR wasn't set to record it. How did the retarded monkey boy do?

There was only one great girl tonight - skinny Macy Gray. The Vegas showgirl can't sing that good, but she is hot, so hopefully she'll stick around for a little while. My head voted for Macy, but my crotch dialed the phone for Vegas. It was an odd race for the phone.

There were a couple I hated tonight. The third girl was lousy and there was a really boring blonde chick near the end that they said normally has a husky voice.

Cotton's Idol Rant

Sorry you guys, but I'm waaaaay too drunk to go into detail tonight. I'll that I'm going to say is that Carrie and Nadia were the best. Aloha was great too, but I have a feeling that her amazing performance tonight was a fluke. Mikalah didn't put on the greatest vocals, but she was amazing presence, so she'll go far. Vonzell also stood out. She did way better then Kimberley Locke did with "Heat Wave," bu K Lo had an off-night with that one, so that ain't saying much.

The rest were just forgetable tonight in my opinon. The five that I mentioned above should fill their respective slots in the Top 12. The sixth will be a wild-card for me.

I'm not bothering to learn names till the final 12, deal with it.

Number 4 and Number 7 were really good, the rest of them I could take or leave. 9 has presence but vocals were meh to me and I think Simon is right half the audience will love her and half will find her annoying. 12 was good, but vocallay way behind 4 and 7. 1 was decent.

I think these names are in order, so I am stealing this from another post.

Vonzell - Good - nice start to the show but she was overshadowed by what came later
Amanda - meh
Janay - sucked
Carrie - Excellent - great voice, like her, standout performance
Sarah - Fair - I can't even recall what she sang
Melinda - Fair - I can't even recall what she sang
Nadia - Excellent - she has persoanlity, she choose a very orgianl song, I just love this girl, stnadout performance
Celena - meh - felt liek a huge letdown after the previous performance
Mikalah - meh, charisma good, vocals were not so much so
Lindsey - fair - she might be good, I c ouldn;t tell tonight
Jessica - meh - I can't even recall what she sang
Aloha - Good - she has personality and presence

Basically only Carrie and Nadia left an impressive on me, heck I even considered voting which has never corssed my mind before.

I ended up watching House instead.

Ryan Seacrest rarely gets enough credit as a host. I used to hate him, but I've really taken to him in the past two years. Whenever someone is gone, he does it so quick, so it's like a shock. Jeff Probst on Survivor is so anti-climatic. And, he seems like a warm host. I like him.

Jared, Judd (woah, not expecting that), Melinda and Sarah are out.

That was a rather cheap way to toss Judd out, by the way. Stupid show.

Oops, I may spoke too soon on Ryan. While the shock end is clever for scripted television, like say "24", I think that was really low to do that.

Bleh. Melinda and Jared deserved to go, but not Sarah. The girl who went up against Melinda in the 1st showdown deserved to, imo. She was the worst of the night. Janay I think her name was? Judd was actually pretty good, but what a horrible way to send him home! AI is not what it used to be.

Well, I'm a little upset that Sarah got the boot tonight, but it wasn't entirely unexpected after her bad choice of song yesterday. If anyone deserved a second chance to show themselves it was her, as she had one of the top female voices in the competition. America really let a good one slip through their fingers, while Janay, who showed nowhere near the same promise vocally and was a nervous wreck on-stage, is still in the running ](*,) .

Aside from that, the other eliminated girl and the two guys were all deserving of the boot.

I just caught the eliminations, and how they did them. Which is the cruelest they've ever been. None of the four eliminated were going to win but I did think that Judd and possibly Sarah were going to make the finals. Oh well, at least this means I won't be surprised when Constantine and Mikalah are the final two - not that they should be, just that America has a habit of disappointing me.
