 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
Actually the capacity will be closer to 38,000. The Red Sox ownership has done a nice job expanding the seating capacity for the ballpark over the past decade. That saying, I thought for sure they were going to be adding more seats onto the field for the classic to bump the capacity up to over 40,000 but they're keeping it as it is. Just looking at the live feed of the rink, anything to the left (anything to the camera's right) of the Monster Seats are going to have a real awful view. Some of the seats in the right field grandstand will be a good 400 feet away from the rink. The seats from foul pole to foul pole, behind the rink, those will be fantastic though, especially the one's in the upper levels. My recliner at home is looking like the best seat though. Warm, HDTV, and I'll be able to see the gameplay.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
The Winter Classic might get pushed back a day. Apparently the ice can't take warmer temperatures and rain, and that's exactly what's heading for Boston on Friday. 40 degrees and rain all throughout the day. Saturday there's a chance for snow and it's supposed to be 30. There are also fewer bowl games on Saturday than on Friday, so it might be in the NHL's best interest to push it back.
I wouldn't mind. The more viewers the better, and Fenway would look much better covered in snow (or sun) than rain.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
The forecast is starting to look a little more promising. It's looking like it'll be slightly colder than first thought and it looks like it might not rain or snow during the game.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
Well, that was an absolute blast to watch today. Fenway looked perfect (especially in the 3rd period), the gameplay was fantastic, and the Bruins somehow fought back to win the game. Great day to be a Bruins fan.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
Bruins sign Miroslav Satan to a 1-year $700k deal. He could help with the goal scoring, and he gives us more playoff experience, but the Bruins need to go after a Kovalchuck or someone along those lines. The classic showed off the best and worst in he Bruins. They don't give up, but they have a real hard time scoring against any team that isn't from Atlanta.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
The Flames trade Dion Phaneuf, Fredrik Sjostrom, and Keith Aulie to the Leafs for Matt Stajan, Niklas Hagman, Jamal Mayers and Ian White.
This is pretty shocking, to be honest, but it gives me even more reason to hate Phaneuf. It's like Burke is just gathering all of my least favourite players on one team.

And we got Giguere. For Blake and Toskala. Blake and Toskala. I would've given away those two for a peanut.
Wow. Best day ever

Maybe some sort of hell will freeze over and the Bruins will actually win a game tonight.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
I sure hope so! Both of their goalies are on my fantasy team.
In other news, Kovalchuk turned down a 12-year $101 million offer from Atlanta. Clearly he just wants out.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
Atlanta gets
Oduya Bergfors Cormier (idiot who almost killed a guy with elbow in juniors and get suspended for the year) 1st
I don't know any of those players but the word is Atl got pretty ripped. Oduya is apparantley 2nd line defensemen. Bergfors a pretty good rookie but likely 2nd liner. Cormier could be a good 3rd line C but he's a shitshow. NJ didn't give up any of their best prospects

The Red Wings since the lockout had no more than 21 regulation losses in a season. They already have 20 this season.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
Fucking Olympics. Just as the Bruins were starting to roll too. It's hard to believe that despite losing something like 12 out of 13 games, they can still somehow win the division. Just as long as they can avoid the 8th seed (unless Washington decides to start phoning it in) they have a decent shot of at least getting out of the first round again.
They still need to make some sort of move though. There was a rumor awhile ago that they were trying to make a move to get Aaron Ward back and possibly bring Ray Whitney along too. That might be still worth pursuing.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
Someone needs to tell the Oilers that it's time to suck less. I'd really like to see the Bruins get the first pick in the draft.
Oh, and if the Pens are smart, they won't start Crosby or Cooke on Thursday.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
Bettman will never let a Canadian team get the first overall pick, though, so the B's still have a shot. It is a lottery, after all.

Well, so much for that. Maybe Jacobs will give Chiarelli a decent amount of cash this offseason so he can actually get someone who knows how to put the puck in the net, although the lineup doesn't seem completely stacked once you get outside of Marleau, Jokinen, Kovalchuk, and Tanguay.

I like this "scoring goals" technique the Bruins have been trying lately. Believe it or not it actually seems to be working.
