Rev - I know it must be tough for you to root for a Philly team, so all the support is appreciated.
Oh, and by the way - GO PHILLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't forget me. I am an Angel fan that is pulling for the Phillies to take it cause of my hatred for the Yankees. Also, the Phillies, in my book, are what I like to call a heart and soul team. They made it for a reason without all the overspending like the Yankees. If the Phillies make it, they deserve it, and also to prevent A-rod from getting a ring.

Jimmy Rollins 8,500,000 5. Raul Ibanez 7,166,666 6. Joe Blanton 5,475,000 7. Pedro Feliz 5,000,000 And the Yankees payroll is greater, only because of things like this.... Players like Jeter, Posada, Matsui and Riviera made lifetime commitments to the Yanks. Including some who helped the Yankees to 4 rings in 5 years. Players like AROD that is getting a prem to become the all-time HR hitter or Jeter and Rivera who are considered one of the greatest at their positions. Players like CC and AJ who get a premimum for playing in NY - highest tax rate in the US! Players like Teixeira who got bigger contracts as others bid them up forcing the Yankees to pay more. Player Salary (US$) 1. Alex Rodriguez 33,000,000 2. Derek Jeter 21,600,000 3. Mark Teixeira 20,625,000 4. A.J. Burnett 16,500,000 5. CC Sabathia 15,285,714 6. Mariano Rivera 15,000,000 7. and also, lets look at the Angels who I had a bartender whining to me that the poor Angels aren't a big market team and not like the Yankees, Mets or the Red Sox.
1. Torii Hunter 18,000,000 2. Vladimir Guerrero 15,000,000 3. Gary Matthews Jr. 10,400,000 4. John Lackey 10,000,000 5. Brian Fuentes 8,500,000 6. Scott Kazmir 6,000,000 7. Chone Figgins 5,775,000 8. Bobby Abreu 5,000,000
PS. To me, any player over 5 Million should be playing at the very same high level and the difference in pay is mainly only due to the players length of time the player has been signed for.

Phillies Hope To End 364-Day World Series DroughtQuote: "The bottom line is we're a pretty inexperienced team, and for many of these young players, this will be the first time they've been to the World Series in a year." Manuel said. "A lot has changed in that time. If you would have told me last October that this country would elect a black president before the Philadelphia Phillies made it back to the World Series, I would have laughed in your face."

Jut like the Red Sox paid a 50 Million Dollar posting fee for Dice or was he worth 60 Million in that first year.

Yanks can take better advantage of sub-par pitching than the Phillies can, espcially at home. true i see the Yanks winning tonight. they better or this series is OVER!

PS. To me, any player over 5 Million should be playing at the very same high level and the difference in pay is mainly only due to the players length of time the player has been signed for. He says the Angels are not a big market team? Hmm, we did rank 5th in attendence (only behind the Dodgers, Yankees, Phils and Cardinals, respectively). Granted some of that attendence is based on the fact that the Angels Stadium has the best value of any stadium ($3 seats). The funny thing is that to us, mid 30,000 attendence is considered lousy (places like PNC park, Kaufman and Camden Yards would be happy to have that attendence). I am saying the Phillies payroll lower compared to other championship caliber big market teams. Based on that list you gave, the true overspenders (besides the Yankees) are the Mets and the Astros, cause their high payrolls led them nowhere. And because the Phillies are a big market team, spending 100 million is expected (along with the Angels, Dodgers, etc), I mean, you wouldn't expect inferior teams like the Royals, Pirates or Orioles to spend anything, especially their empty stadiums. I am saying that $200 million is just a little too much.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
DAMN IT! I wanted this win bad for Pedro. Manager should've yanked him after the 6th inning was over. Shouldn't have let him start the 7th. Phillies missed a great chance to go up 2-0 in the series.

Also glad selig is fine with the umps. Sure as he counts his 15 million dollar salary So how does home plate ump not overrule that miscall. Esp with howard first running to first. But still on the umps. Th ball strike calls on the corners are a joke as I bet the umps are wrong 50 percent of the time.

Also. Really nice to see rivera go out and always when needed just pitch 2 innings. Just like the older ones.
And what a cheap shot by madison hitting teixeira. What if the phillies aren't ahead, they play dirty.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
so if Yanks win Game 3 and are up 2-1, will Lee then pitch Game 4. Also makes him available for Game 7.
PS, Any chance of rain-outs in Philly over the next week.

PS. Were you disappointed in the lack of Yankee hitting in the 1st game also?
