I was watching the game, and the Twins blew some great opportunities (along with game 2) with mental errors on the basepaths. so as I expected...Yankees, Angels and Dodgers are in and looks like Colorado might put up a good fight. PS. Don't get so cocky. It's too bad this didn't go another game and use up CC for starters. Now the Yankees get to re-set their rotation starting with CC and AROD and Tiexiera proved this series that they are a great pair of clutch power hitters. If I did come up as cocky, I apologize. I had a feeling that a sweep was in motion. And to tell you the truth, I am not worried about facing CC, since he does have a 6.08 ERA against the Angels this year. Still, the Yankees are much improved this year with their power hitters, but we can still get lots of runs off their pitchers, but unlike last year (which was frusterating for the Yankees last year), they are no pushovers this time. The 5-5 record shows that there will be no sweep in this series. In fact, this may go down to the last game I predict.

Good god! PHILLIES!!!!!!!!!!!
Chip - you wanted a great game? Well you got one last night. I got such an adrenaline rush with the nerve-racking performance by Lidge, I couldn't fall asleep for another hour.
One other thing: fuck you MLB, and fuck you TBS. You know the game is in Denver with the forecast showing freezing temperatures at night. Yet you still start it at 10:07pm EST. What a fantastic way to screw over the fans and the players. Not to mention the horrible officiating.

Guess they didn't want to lose any rating to the NFL. What a joke. and notice how no comment from MLB on any of the horrible umpire calls from MLB. Starting weeks ago with the Detriot hit by batter call.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
gotta root for Colorado today so Philly uses Lee & Hamels and then has to fly to LA on Wed for the 1st game on Thursday. After 2008, don't want to take any chances with Philly or even Colorado.
But still I don't think LA has enough to take on the Yankees. Angels Maybe?

What a fantastic way to screw over the fans and the players. Not to mention the horrible officiating. I feel your pain. Don Orsillo shows lots of enthusiasm when the Red Sox made a spectacular play, but yet, shows almost no excitment for the Angels. It's like, it's an exciting moment for the Angel fans, especially what they had to overcome this year, but instead, we get this monotone announcer going, "Aybar makes the catch and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim move on the ALCS" in a somewhat gloomy mood. Worse yet, they showed virtually no postgame coverage. I mean, you had 2 hrs. before the next game, so there was no excuse for not only any celebration and reactions in the locker room. Also, you noted the start times for the Phillies/Rockies being weird. You are right, they could have started at an earlier time, but no, the NFL scared them. TBS coverage sucks. That's why I'll be happy when the World Series comes, cause it will be back where it belongs, on Fox, with our own commentators. I have a solution to all this. Turn on the TV, but turn down the volume and turn on the radio, so that you can hear you own local annoucers (I rather hear the manipulative tones of Rory Markis than the mono tones of Don Orsillo).

(it will start Friday Oct. 16) The times and pitching matchups are still TBD, although I would guess that Lackey and Saunders in New York, then Weaver and Kazmir will start the games in Anaheim (since Weaver has trouble at Yankees Stadium).

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Heard the Yankees might try a 3 man rotation with CC, AJ and Pettitte. Which means only a 4 day assignment for CC in Game 4. But they might have rain in NY which could change everything again.
CC - Gm 1 LAA @ NYY Fri Oct. 16 7:57 PM FOX Gm 2 LAA @ NYY Sat Oct. 17 7:57 PM FOX Gm 3 NYY @ LAA Mon Oct. 19 4:13 PM FOX CC - Gm 4 NYY @ LAA Tue Oct. 20 7:57 PM FOX Gm 5* NYY @ LAA Thu Oct. 22 7:57 PM FOX Gm 6* LAA @ NYY Sat Oct. 24 4:13 PM FOX CC - Gm 7* LAA @ NYY Sun Oct. 25 8:20 PM FOX

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
The Angels are going with thier 4-man rotation, with Lackey for game one. And since Kazmir has done well at the New Yankees Stadium (an ERA under 3), than he may start game 2. Weaver has a ERA of over 6 at Yankees Stadium, but 2.80 at Angel Stadium, so it is logically that he starts at home, leaving Saunders to start game four, then Lackey for 5, if needed.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Did you guys know this? I just found this out.
This is the first time in LCS history (since the Wild Induction in 1995) that both Leagues Conference Series are between the top two seeds. Amazing that it's never happened before.

Obviously Yankees-Dodgers is the world series everyone wants to see (and Angels-Dodgers is the one noone outside the west cares about). Maybe tv stations will fix the ALDS?

And today both pitchers were deserving of wins. So 1-1 is fair. Also just saw the bigginning of angels game. What a mistake by ss to allow a run.

Phillies really blew it tonight. That error by Belliard cost them the game. Bad fielding by the Angels may have cost them the game too. Either way, Yankees look like they will cruise to the series. They can win close games and slugfests.

Yeah, that was just one bad game by the Angels. Hopefully they can shrug it off and at least get a split heading back home. Remember, the Angels lost game 1 the last two times we played the Yankees in the playoffs.

Hmm... Why was Pedro pulled? He pitched 7 great innings and 90 pitches. and you had 3 solid relief pitchers coming in. Park saved Games 1. Also if he would have given up a homer in the 8 as he was getting tired, everyone would have complained...or did you want Pedro to go all 9? Put the blame on Utley...with 2 errors in 2 games.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Pedro should've been in.
But I guess he's getting older, so maybe he was tired... But I doubt it.
But anyways... at least these games have been better than the last round.
