Clean sweep against Seattle. John Lackey gets his 8 career shutout (and his 4th against the Mariners). The pitching staff has been on fire lately, and at the right time too. Post Season, here we come.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
This road trip will be very crucial for the Angels. 3 game series at Fenway, then 3 games at Texas. Thankfully in game one, we get to face Dice-K, who had never pitched well against the Angels, and has a gaggingly high ERA. Then again, Lackey (pitching that game) has not fared well at Fenway either. Could this be a high scoring affair. Could be. Game 2 is Saunders (who has pitched well against them, especially Game 3 of the ALDS), vs. the inferior Paul Byrd. Angels could take this one easily. Game 3 should be a great duel, Santana vs. Beckett. Angels have to really work hard to win this one.
My prediction, with this matchup, The Angels can take 2 out of 3 from this one, if they are lucky (losing the last game maybe), more logically, it may be 1 out of 3. What do you think you Boston fans here? Texas fans should enjoy this one, considering that whoever loses, helps them either way.

That game was utter Bulls---!!! He so swung at the pitched, and that 3-2 pitch was so a strike. I think the umpires rigged it for the Roid Sox to win.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Sox are on Fire as the Yankees are falling apart. It's good to have Dice K, Beckett, Lester, and Wakefield. We now have solid starters again. I don't think the Yankees have anything clinched now. We could easily sweep KC and rock the Angels a third time. If the Yankees keeps struggling next weekends matchup could be very interesting.

Yanks are 7-3 over last 10 games so not really sure how they are struggling? Also with like a 5/6 game lead, who knows if they are cruising alittle. Anyway, yes the Red Sox would have to sweep those 3 games to make it interesting for the division race. ALSO, DODGERS ARE ALSO UP BY 5/6 WITH NL BEST RECORD, SO HOPE ALL KNOW THEY ARE GOING TO THE PLAYOFFS.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
If Sox beat angels again, they'll could very well have 12 game winning streak before they play the yanks again. And Im not sure if the Yankees will fare as well against the Angels. Could be very close.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
The Angels avoided a sweep this time, and they continue to be the only team to not lose 4 in a row this season. The Angels were 5-4 this year against the Sox this year.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
With Baltimore and KC for the Sox and Seattle and LAA for the Yanks, I could see the Sox gaining 2 to 3 more games. It'll be a great last series between them me thinks.

Torii Hunter commits his first error since August 31, 2007. It had to happen sometime, but at least it didn't cost the outcome of the game.

Come on, Braves, let's keep this streak all the way and repeat what Rockies did in 2007.

THEY DID IT!!! The Angels are the 2009 American League West Champions!!! Ervin gets a complete shut out, the first time it has ever been done on a game clincher. Way to go!!! Even though we will get our butts kicked by Boston again.

At least the Rangers are going to come close to 90 wins. Just need to take that extra step to become a playoff team. Though being the pessimistic I am, we're probably going to barely win 80 games next season. The Rangers did have a good year, and gave the Angels a great run, especially early. Kinsler told the Angels earlier this year to "Get off our field." Hmm, I think he owes them an apology. Ironic that he was the last out too. I think the Rangers can win games with their great pitching and offense, but they one stumbling block...Washington. He can't manage to save his life. Maybe with a new manager, they will be contenders again. Also, their attendence went up 10% from last year, sparked by this increased Rivalry.

With this Angels win tonight, the Red Sox clinch the Wild Card. Some Sox fan's have some thanking to do, despite the fact that they will face off again.
Also, Chris Petite gets a base hit in the very first Major League at bat. Future outfielder perhaps.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Wow, the last game of the season it going to be great for the AL Central, cause now that the Tigers and Twins are tied, this last game will decided everything. It is always exciting when the division is decided by the last game. A win win or lose lose for both team will result in a tiebreaker. Tigers had a chance to clinch Thursday (against the Twins), but failed to do so, and now they are collapsing. And the Dodgers, wow, they can even finish it off despite the fact that their Magic Number has been at one for 5 consecutive games. The Cards and Phils can't even take advantage of this for home field advantage. Could the Rockies, who were once 18 games back of the Dodgers, take the top seed and make the WS with their momentum? The last game in the NL may even decide who gets homefield advantage too. It doens't get any more exciting than this.
