This movie's marketing push has been decent since the trailer was attracted on DARKNESS and WHITH NOISE.
Review in Hollywoodreporter is good, but it says that " "The Jacket" doesn't fit into a genre, but this mesmeric mix captivated a Sundance audience. "The Jacket's" select-site prospects seem promising for this Warner Independent Pictures and Mandalay Pictures presentation.]"

According a review in screendaily.com, THE JACKET will be opened on 1000-1200 screens.

It is a positive review, says this movie "has the potential to tap into a medium to wide audience on its opening weekends around the world". However, this review also says Quote: Weekend two will see big drop-offs as word gets out among the teen crowd that there are no cheap thrills, and among adult fans of unsettling horror that there are very few chills.
But it is not the arthouse film which its premiere slot at Sundance last weekend and the artsy credentials of director John Maybury may suggest, and distributors shouldn’t rely on critical support, which will be mixed.
Accordingly, it will be released in the US on 1,000 to 1,200 screens on March 4, an opening which marks the first wide release for Warner Independent Pictures (WIP). The division is marketing it as a smart psychological thriller, using enigmatic quotes from the movie like the opening line - “I was 27 years old the first time I died.†It looks like a home video hit.... and box office disappointment.

It looks interesting, but 1000 theaters is nothing.

It reminds me a lot of Jacob's Ladder. Should be a pretty good film. It'll probably bomb at the box office, though. "Disturbing" films like this rarely, if ever, do well.

It looked quite bizzare from the preview. It almost reminded me of The Butterfly Effect, but Adrien Brody has yet to show any box office clout so I can't see this doing terribly well.

1,000 theatres is too many for a movie coming from a major studio's specialty division.
BTW, Warner Independent Picture is selling this movie like a horror movie. :???:

Even lowered predictions were too high for this film. It only opened to $2,723,682 and an absymal per theater average of $2,046.
