What are the chances Hitch could remain #1?
What are the chances Hitch could remain #1 this upcoming weekend? After this past weekend and Monday's numbers is it possible it could repeat or will Constantine deliver?

I believe that Constantine will surprise a lot of people, but Hitch has a good shot at being #1 again after that weekend and Monday gross. It's on fire, so Constantine has to do great to beat it.

I truely believe that the one reason why Hitch got so much was because it was Valentine day's weekend. If it was any other week in February or January,it would of opened to around 30 million. Watch it drop close to 50% because Valentine's weekend inflated its number not because it was bad or anything.
Constantine will be #1

With the help of President's Day holiday, I don't see Hitch suffering a huge drop. The WOM is quite good, and I believe it will remain No. 1 for the weekend.

I think it will to a little under 30m for the long weekend and outperform Constintine, too.

In my opinion, it has a 90% chance at being #1. Constantine won't go over $25 million.
It will also be #1 the following weekend as well. Even if Constantine beats it this weekend, Constantine will fall below it the next and Cursed won't do big numbers.

Hitch will have the #1 spot next week, it will do above $30M
Constantine will be a lot short of the $30M, im predicting $24M

I'm a arty/fartsy/Matrix-hating/non-action-loving/idiot (some would say).
And I want to see Constantine.
I think Constantine is going to be mildly huge.
It's really the first movie of 2005 (not including the 2004 Oscar films) with any sense of production design and quality.

Why do people think Hitch will have a MUCH better drop then 50 First Dates this weekend?

Better WOM, President's Day weekend (50 First Dates opened President's Day weekend), Valentine's Day didn't inflate it's weekend like 50 First Dates.

My opinion is a dead heat like Minority Report and Lilo and Stitch 3 years ago. I have both at 33.4mm for the 4-day.

Even though i thought hitch was more catered to guy type romance movie than girls, ehem .. its the guy's turn to choose the movie.
So Constantine. Everything balances out.

50 First Date also had the luxury of competiting against 3 other crappy movies that failed to open above 10 million dollar each. At least the competition looks much better this week with Constantine and Son of Mask(hold back laughter). Also Hitch is very much a Valentine Day's movie as 50 First Dates so I think it will drop 40%, still better than Sandler's movie of close to 50% on the second weekend
