Still can't forgive myself for two picks, Minny @ Detroit and LA @ Calgary. I do NOT know what I was thinking!

Trixster, San Jose didn't win (Phoenix did). So, the scores so far are:

Trixster: 7-4
MikeQ: 6-5

Peace,
Mike

Congratulations Trixster!!! With the way tonight's games ended up going, you have won! There is no possible way for me to catch up based on our future picks. :)

Way to go Trixster! :cheer:

Huh Mike, you do realize the questions at the end aren't tiebreakers right? They count as points just like the picks. The only tiebreaker is the final mathematical calculation. By my calculations you guys have 2 different picks, plus the Parise/Kovalchuk question making 3, then the seedings, which you've almost nailed and can make big time ground on him with (if I calculate correctly there's potential for a maximum swing of about 4 points)

Still anyone's game.

Oops.

I had forgotten those were real questions and not just tie-breakers.

But I'm sure Trixster will win anyway, haha.

Peace,
Mike

If I've calculated correctly, it's definitely Trixster's win.

TRIXSTER
Games: 16-12
Malkin: (same pick as MikeQ, doesn't matter)
Steve Mason: (same pick as MikeQ, doesn't matter)
Ilya Kovalchuk:
Vanc/Toronto: 1.0 point
Tampa/False: 1.0 point
Seeding: 4.5 points
-------------
TOTAL: 22.5 points

MIKEQ
Games: 11-17
Malkin: (same pick as Trixster, doesn't matter)
Steve Mason: (same pick as Trixster, doesn't matter)
Zach Parise:
Vanc/Toronto: 1.0 point
Tampa/False: 1.0 point
Seeding: 8.0 points
----------
TOTAL: 21.0 points

The only seeding left to be decided are based on whether St. Louis and Anaheim switch spots. But if they do, it doesn't help me any anyway. It will only make me lose more points.

The only question I can gain a point on is our different picks with Parise and Kovalchuk. The rest of our answers for the questions are exactly the same, so they don't matter.
Our picks for the last day of games are also all the same.

But, a point won't be enough, as Trixster is 1.5 points ahead (when calculating the rest). Therefore, trixster wins. :) Congrats again, Trix!

Peace,
Mike

Well I think trixster won, though there's a couple steps you missed.

Firstly, Philadelphia still has to win tomorrow to get 4th/home ice in their series. This is important as you picked 4 Philadelphia 5 Pittsburgh and trix picked 4 Pittsburgh and 5 Philadelphia. However I believe you calculated it with Philly locked into 4, so yea, it'd only hurt you.

Secondly, regarding the 6-8 in the West, there's two possible combinations: 6 Columbus 7 Anaheim 8 St. Louis or 6 St. Louis 7 Columbus 8 Anaheim. If it's the first, you get all 2.25 points and trixster gets 1.5. If it's the second, you get .75 points and trixster gets .5.

But again I don't think it matters. If this makes sense:
MikeQ. highest possible seeding points: 11 (Montreal/NYR is wrong)
trixster lowest possible seeding points while MikeQ. gets highest: 9.25

So with the Parise/Kovalchuk question, that's a potential 2.75 point gain, when you need 5. I'll have to review your picks to make sure though... tomorrow

Sunday, April 12th
Detroit @ Chicago
Boston @ NY Islanders
NY Rangers @ Philadelphia
St. Louis @ Colorado

But wait, there's more! Oh yes, you're not getting off that easy. Questions! Each question worth one point:

Which will be higher, Malkin points or Ovechkin goals x2 --> MALKIN

Who's GAA will be lower, Steve Mason or Pekka Renne? --> STEVE MASON

Who will finish with the 2nd most goals, Zach Parise, Jeff Carter, or Ilya Kovalchuk? --> ZACH PARISE

Who will win the Northwest division, Calgary or Vancouver --> VANCOUVER
Who will finish lower, Toronto or Ottawa? --> TORONTO
*each worth .5 points*

Who wins the "Hedman cup" and finishes 2nd last, Tampa Bay or Colorado? --> TAMPA BAY
True or false, Boston will finish with twice as many points as the Islanders --> FALSE
*each worth .5 points*

Seed the 4 West and 4 East playoff matchups.

West
1. San Jose vs 8. St. Louis
2. Detroit vs 7. Anaheim
3. Vancouver vs 6. Columbus
4. Chicago vs 5. Calgary

East
1. Boston vs. 8. NY Rangers
2. Washington vs 7. Montreal
3. New Jersey vs 6. Carolina
4. Philadelphia vs 5. Pittsburgh

Tiebreaker:

Combined total of Malkin, Ovechkin, Crosby's points, PLUS the difference between Malkin and Ovechkin's points, PLUS the difference between Ovechkin and Crosby's points, DIVIDED BY Steve Mason's GAA, MULTIPLYED BY Tim Thomas' Save %.
--> 131.636

Peace,
Mike

11-17

Yep you counted correctly. You picked a hell of a time to pull a 4-9 stinkbomb

You're right, I missed a lot of things. Heh. I think the idea you have though is right; if any changes occur today, they basically hurt me. So, Trixster remains in the lead either way.

Definitely a nice stinkbomb of predictions right at the end of the game for me. Hehe. Go me!

Peace,
Mike
