 Re: 2008 NFL Discussion
some comments....
* Fitz... catch in the end zone was incredible and he had another great game.
* I don't know if it was nerves or what but why didn't Arizona throw more passes in the first half. They ran the ball way to much for the first 1.5 quarters What they did in the 4th quarter, I expected all game. > Then I think they win the game.
* Pittsburgh didn't score at the half on the 100 yard run, Think the ball came down at the half yard line > Ref give the Steelers 1???
* Someone above also questioned another Cardinal penalty > did Refs give another to Steelers.
* And how about that safety, bs call?, you don't make that holding call in that situation!!!
and holding is missed about 50 times a game anyway.
Also then you call pass interference on every Hail Mary pass at the end of the game. As players are always being shoved with the ball in the air.
* Don't have a problem with Steelers wiining as neither team did enough to really win.
* So looks like 2 years in a row, Chip is very disappointed as a last minute score takes the game away from his team.

 Re: 2008 NFL Discussion
Bleh I found the game really boring except for near the end when the Cardinals came back and then the Steelers...prevented them from winning. Not my favorite game ever.

The safety was legit.
Holding in the end zone.

Thanks, just in case the above argues my point. Yeah. Even though I'm a Pats fan I can appreciate how good last year's game was. As for recent Super Bowls..... 1. Patriots vs. Rams (XXXVI) 2. Rams vs. Titans (XXXV) 3. Patriots vs. Panthers (XXXVIII) 4. Giants vs. Patriots (XLII) 5. Patriots vs. Eagles (XXXIX) Just missing: Steelers vs. Cardinals (XLIII) Six out of nine so far this decade have been decided by seven points or less. That's compared to three in the 90s, two in the 80s, and four in the 70s. Not bad.

Holding in the end zone. Sure if was legit but how many times do they say, penalties aren't called at the end of the game to decide the game. I don't remember the play now but did the player even break through and get close to the QB or was he stopped at the line.

 Re: 2008 NFL Discussion
On the game winning catch by Pittsburgh, did they say it was questionable ( I was at a bar with no sound.) but I saw they showed the replay about 10 times so I think they were't sure themsleves.
Also I think the ref had to guess, cause is that like a catch by the first baseman in baseball? Could that ref really have seen both the catch in the hands and the feet on the ground.
*** so if the ref would have ruled it, no catch, would it have been reversed?

They just kept showing the replay to see if there was any question about it, but there wasn't. And I of course can't speak for the ref, but I think he was looking at the feet. The feet made the call easy.

Also, I'm not sure if anyone has seen this yet, but according to Wiki (they were right last year) this is next year's Super Bowl XLIV logo. I'm picturing it now on the Patriots home jersey. They seem to go together.

 Re: 2008 NFL Discussion
Super Bowl XLIII scored 89.2 million guacamole dippers for NBC from 7-10 p.m. ET, Nielsen estimates showed. Total viewer numbers for the game, which kicked off around 6:30 p.m., and ended after 10 p.m., weren't yet known. NBC said the game posted a overnight 42.1 rating, about 5 percent down from last year when the perfection-seeking New England Patriots starred, and about even with 2007's Super Bowl XLI.
Say, Did Bruce Springsteen Really Say "Guacamole Dip" on Live TV? Ask the 86 million who tuned in the game from 8-8:30 p.m., when the Springsteen-led halftime show aired.
Say, Wasn't That a Great Finish? Don't necessarily ask Super Bowl fans, oddly enough. Close game or no, prime-time viewership peaked in the game's first half, with 96.5 million convened on the couch from 7-7:30 p.m.. In the game's last full half-hour, from 9:30-10 p.m., "only" 84.3 million were tuned in.

The Niners though are the only perfect team with playing it at least 2 SBs (I don't consider the Jets or Ravens perfect at 1-0). I still say they were the best SB team that run of there from 1982-1995 was one of the best in NFL history.

 Re: 2008 NFL Discussion
Best. Superbowl. Ever Quote: TV coverage of America's Superbowl football match was interrupted for some viewers by snippets of pornography.
Those watching a Tucson television station's broadcast of the game yesterday were given a 10-second segment of a woman performing a sex act on a man.
KVOA TV today said the only viewers who were able to see the material were those who receive the channel through a cable provider.
The station said it would investigate the incident.
"When the NBC feed of the Superbowl was transmitted from KVOA to local cable providers and through over-the-air antennas, there was no pornographic material," station general manager Gary Nielsen said.
The station said it was dismayed and disappointed that some customers and their families were subjected to the material.
"KVOA will continue to investigate what happened to our clean signal and make sure our viewers get answers," it said.
A spokeswoman for cable company Comcast confirmed that the company's standard feed was interrupted during the Superbowl, although she said its high definition feed was not.
Tucson media reported that they received calls from irate viewers about the pornographic material. Joel Hilander of Tucson said he and his young children saw the clip.
"I couldn't believe it. And I couldn't believe that my children were watching it either," he said.
He said the interruption came just after the Arizona Cardinals' Larry Fitzgerald scored on a long touchdown reception during the final minutes of the game.

Larry Larry Larry.
I mean... It's just ridiculous. Will we start seeing other receivers trying to cover him on the fades? Because it's impossible to defend.
