Post SEC Best Football Conference Again
Lets take a look, 3 straight national championships. 6-2 this year in Bowl Games. I think everyone can agree that the SEC continues to prove that an average SEC school can win at least 10 games in most conferences. Just ask Ole Miss when they made Texas Tech their bitch. Vandy, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Auburn would each have 8-9 wins in the Big East, ACC, Big 10, and the Pac-10. If they were in a mid major like Utah, Boise State or TCU they'd go undefeated. Everyone bow down to the best conference in football year in and year out.

we need a playoff to really determine that.

Well, unfortunately, the Pac-10 hasn't been judged fairly for years.

Also, USC didn't get credit from their 1 loss this year because supposely the Pac-10 isn't a good conference and got downgraded but the Pac 10 won all their bowl games, 5-0 this year. And USC only loss by 6 points to Oregon St. Beavers wasn't too bad.

Anyway, don't watch much college but USC deserved to play for a chance at #1 this year. Maybe others also but USC definitely.

Also, USC the best defense in the country???

I think everyone agrees that the SEC is the best conference with the Big-12 second and the PAC-10 third. The others are interchangeable until Miami gets back (which they will, but next year seems about 1 year too early).

However, USC is still better than any team in the SEC. Florida even takes USC washouts. I wish USC would just drop ND and only schedule SEC teams for its out of conference schedule so that we could stop hearing the SEC chest beaters.

I agree that USC was still probably the best team in the nation this year, problem is they lost to Oregon State while Florida lost to Ole Miss.

I cant agree witht he USC love... The Pac-10 is just underpar when it comes to the other majors, except the Big 10 (which is another thing in its own)

They lost to Oregon ST. which if you watched the game they got pwned and only made it close in trash time.
Then Utah turns around and beats Oregon St, and goes without a loss. SO if you make a claim for USC then you have to make the same claim for Utah.
If USC would schedule better out of confrence, instead of ND, and if the lame Pac-10 would have a championship game then USC would have as many games as the Big 12 or Sec and make themselves look better

And if USC didnt always HAVE to play in the Rose Bowl maybe we could finally see another USC vs SEC or BIG 12 game

The pollsters know now that if you lose just 1 game in the Pac or Big 10 and the Sec and Big 12 have 1 lose they get the nod since they play in a tough conference

And speaking of the bIg 10... OMG stop putting Ohio St in the top 10.. They played 2 high ranked teams this year and lost both....how in the world do they keep getting to getting to BCS games...Not to mention they lose all the BCS games...

Go SEC !!!!

Florida beat two teams that were ranked 20-25...AND beat a team that was no. 4, a team that was no. 6, and two teams that was no. 1.

ok since you aren't going to tell all of the facts, you mentioned that USC beat teams when they were ranked 20-25.

BUT YOU LEAVE OUT THAT USC BEAT OHIO STATE BY 35 POINTS WHEN OHIO STATE WAS 5 AND EVEN FINISHED 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND IN THE BOWL GAME, THEY BEAT THE HELL OUT OF #8 PENNSTATE !!!!!!!!!

SO NICE THAT YOU LEFT ANY GOOD USC POINTS OUT OF YOUR STORY.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as so many are not giving Oregon State credit, lets look at some FACTS!

Oregon State loses to Utah, 31-28

Alabama finished the SEC season undefeated and as the #4 team

Utah crushes Alabama, 31-17 in bowl game

Facts are Facts! Pac-10 doesn't get credit.

and Oregon State > Alabama!

USC plays one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country every year. This year ND (who is a traditional power but is now garbage), OSU, and Virginia. Who the hell does the SEC ever play out of conference? Troy? Mississippi Valley State? Tulane? Florida A&M?

What is the point of a championship game in the PAC-10? USC plays every team in the PAC-10, thus if there was a championship, it would be a rematch, which would be pointless. The PAC-10 has a tournament, the other conferences do not. Now, if the SEC, Big-10 + 1, and Big-12 would drop some teams so they could all play each other, that would make more sense.

I wish that was the case too, that's why I wanted Oregon State to win the PAC-10 so USC could go to a different bowl, like the Sugar.

I think everyone here can agree that pre-season polling is utterly ridiculous. This is the AP poll which no doubt influences the first Coaches Poll which comes out week 1.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/rankingsindex?seasonYear=2008&weekNumber=16&seasonType=2

1. Georgia (22) (Should be around 15)
2. USC (14)
3. Ohio State (Should be around 20)
4. Oklahoma (3)
5. Florida (5)
6. LSU (3) (Heres a reason SEC teams can claim they beat lots of top teams)
7. Missouri (Should be around 25)
8. West Virginia (Shouldn't be in top 25)
9. Clemson (Shouldn't be in top 25)
10. Texas 0-0 979 (Should be in top 5)
11. Auburn (Heres a reason SEC teams can claim they beat lots of top teams)
12. Wisconsin (Shouldn't be top 25)
13. Kansas (Shouldn't be top 25)
14. Texas Tech
15. Virginia Tech
16. Arizona State (Shouldn't be top 25)
17. Brigham Young
18. Tennessee (Heres a reason SEC teams can claim they beat lots of top teams)
19. Illinois (Shouldn't be Top 25)
20. Oregon (Should be around 15)
21. South Florida (Shouldn't be top 25)
22. Penn State (Should be around 15)
23. Wake Forest (Shouldn't be top 25)
24. Michigan (The name is Michigan, otherwise top 100)
25. Fresno State (Shouldn't be in top 25)

People thought Alabama would dominate Utah too.

I'd love to see a Utah/Florida matchup.

Anger management?

Utah has a better case than USC as Utah went undefated and beat the team USC lost to. And they even beat Alabama by a bigger margin than Florida did.

But I really think USC/Florida would just dominate Utah if they ever played.

was just pointing out all the USC facts that you left out to balance your biased first paragraph.

Well forget about all this talk as Pac-10 teams beat the teams on the field, beating the 8, 13, 16 & 20 Ranked Teams. Too bad they didn't get the credit before-hand.

http://www.kgw.com/sports/stories/kgw_0 ... 38fdf.html

The perception that the Pac-10 was a weak football league this season turned out to be totally wrong.

Beat #8 Team < USC's dominating 38-24 Rose Bowl victory over Penn State yesterday at Pasadena gave the conference a perfect 5-0 record.

Beat #13 Team < Previously, Oregon beat Oklahoma State 42-31 in the Holiday Bowl at San Diego;

Beat #20 Team < Oregon State shut out Pittsburgh 3-0 in the Sun Bowl at El Paso, Texas;

California bested Miami 24-17 in the Emerald Bowl at San Francisco,

Beat #16 Team < Arizona was a 31-21 winner over BYU in the Las Vegas Bowl.

There shouldn't even be pre-season polling. These polls are the reason Utah never had a chance for a title game

I actually agreeded with the Georgia pre season #1...Because if you looked at who they were going to play IF and I say IF they could have gone with zero defeats or even just 1 they deserved to be #1 at end of season

AZ St, Alabama, Florida, LSU, Auburn, Tennesse...All teams in top 25 and 5 of those 6 were on the road...

Now no one would have known TN and Auburn would have sucked it up this year but still anyone would admit that is one nasty schedule especially being so many road games

I would argue the Big 12 was equal to the SEC this year.
