Re: Levy's Ramblings aka NFL Power Ranking: Week 9
Washington was the beginning of the year, new offense and new coach, and they're not even that good. Pittsburgh IS good, +1! Dallas is SHIT without Romo because they don't give Barber the ball. Haven't played Philly yet.
Tennessee has played:
Baltimore, better than Dallas/Washington. Green Bay, better than Dallas/Washington. Indy, better than Dallas/Washington.

My rankings are based on records. They are not true rankings of my thoughts.
And Tennessee hasn't played Chicago yet, as well as NY has NOT played Philly yet.
I didn't leave out Pitt. Learn how to read.

Chip, I am just trying to understand how you can on hand (best/best), talk highly of Chicago and on the other hand rate them so low, 9 of 13 in that group. LOL! Maybe you meant best of the most average teams in the league?

Re: Levy's NFL Power Rankings aka Chip's and Grill's catfight
Week 11 (sorry for missing last week, but back with comments)
1. (up 1) New York Giants (9-1) Okay, I officially cursed them. Since I started following the sport and becoming an avid Giants fan, for almost 20 years now, I withstood the temptations of buying Giants merchandise. I caved yesterday. If they lose against the Cards next week, it’s on me.
2. (down 1) Tennessee Titans (10-0) So what if Tennessee is unbeaten. The Giants are the best team in Football right now. 4th in total offense, second in total defense. They have beaten the top three defenses of the League. The Titans are impressive, very impressive and a class of their own in the NFC, but how can anyone think the Titans would be able to win against the Giants at this point.
3. (unchanged) Pittsburgh Steelers (7-3) They grinded out a win against San Diego despite being flagged on every play by the incompetent refs. If you look behind the final score, that was a really dominating win and the right answer after their somewhat surprising loss against the Colts.
4. (up 3) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-3) The inability to score Touchdowns against the Vikings might be a bad sign, but if your defense can hold Adrian Peterson unter 90 yards and without a score all is well.
5. (down 1) Carolina Panthers (8-2) They have the third best record in Football right now, but as a Panthers fan I would start worrying. Something is wrong with Jake Delhomme. Under 100 passing yards with this receiving corps is just horrible. You might get away with this against the Lions, but with Atlanta, Green Bay and Tampa Bay coming up you better find a solution fast.
6. (up 3) Arizona Cardinals (7-3) They’re record is a bit deceiving. In the last three weeks, they faced three of the worst teams in football and won two of them with less than a Touchdown. The resurgence of Kurt Warner ist he feel good story of the year, yes, but I want to see them against the Giants first before I start jumping on their bandwagon.
7. (up 17) New York Jets (7-3) All hail Brett Favre. Yadda, yadda, yadda. Forget the man behind center. The secret of the Jets success is Thomas Jones. Once he got in rhythm, the Jets became a really good team. He faces a real tester next week against the Titans, but he’ll run mad again against Denver the following week. This is a play-off team.
8. (unchanged) New England Patriots (6-4) Matt Cassel might become the hottest chip on next year’s Free Agent market. The Patriots should do everything to keep him since Favre’s knee will be an uncertainty, but at least 10 different other teams will take a really good look at him. If the Pats hadn’t had that many injuries on defense I think Cassel might have had the ability to even lead them to the Superbowl.
9. (unchanged) Atlanta Falcons (6-4) Roddy White is certainly the surprise of the year, but last week he showed his ugly face. His drops doomed the Falcons who nevertheless look like a team with a lot of prospect. It seems Michael Vick’s prison stay was the best that could have happened to them.
10. (up 5) Indianapolis Colts (6-4) Slowly the Colts get back on track. Peyton is finding his rhythm, Harrison starts making catches again, but most importantly Addai keeps gaining chunks of yards again. They won’t be able to catch the Titans, but they certainly seem the best bet for a Wild Card spot at this point.
11. (up 10) Denver Broncos (6-4) This is a really streaky team. Great start followed by a few horrible weeks and now they’re back on track. Let’s see if it holds up long enough to clinch the division.
12. (down 2) Washington Redskins (6-4) That Portis wasn’t be able to get back to 100% during the bye week is not a good sign for the Redskins. After week-long speculations that three teams of the NFC East would make the play-offs we now reached the point where two almost seems a stretch.
13. (unchanged) Green Bay Packers (5-5) Are we looking at another .500 division champion? So far it is a three-way tie in the NFC North, but the Bears seem to be fading away into obscurity and the Vikings are as inconsistent as the Packers. This one will go down to the wire and I’m not sure if the win one, lose one strategy will pay off.
14. (down 3) Baltimore Ravens (6-4) They can’t seem to beat teams with a winning record and with what’s left on their schedule they won’t be able to pass the Steelers in the division. Plus the loss against the Giants will be a big blow to the morale of their defense, which in the case of Ray Lewis might actually be a good thing. Their focal point will be the Wild Card race where it comes down to them and the AFC East with their easy schedule.
15. (up 3). Dallas Cowboys (6-4) Tony Romo is back and all is well in Cowboy Land, right? Not exactly. They faced a Redskins team that is clearly out of sync at this point, mostly because Clinton Portis is not at 100% right now. Sure it’s an improvement above what they had the last weeks at QB, but so would be any other QB in the league – yes, even you Ryan Fitzpatrick.
16. (down 2) New Orleans Saints (5-5) The season is a lost cause anyway, so I would put Bush on IR to protect him and give the ball to Brees every time and let him throw the bejesus out of him. Might have something to do with him being the star on my fantasy team, though.
17. (up 3) Minnesota Vikings (5-5) See Packers
18. (up 1) Miami Dolphins (6-4) Kudos to Bill Parcells for turning the franchise around so quickly. Will it be enough to reach the play-offs? I doubt it despite their 4-game win-streak. They surprised the Pats with the debut of the Wildcat in week three, but Bellichik will be prepared this time, so they probably can’t pull off another win. After that the schedule should be easy enough to get a winning season though.
19. (down 3) San Diego Chargers (4-6) Philip Rivers is the only one of the big three QBs from the 2004 class who hasn’t won a Superbowl Ring despite having the support of the likes of LT2 and Antonio Gates. Might have something to do with being coached by Norv Turner. Might have something to do with him being more a man of words than action.
20. (down 8) Chicago Bears (5-5) And just like that the Bears have another QB discussion at their hand. This is what hampered their last seasons and this will be what leaves them out of the playoffs this year. It’s a shame because the division is weak and the team has a lot of potential. They should let both of their QBs go and stalk Cassel.
21. (up 5) Jacksonville Jaguars (4-6) They had the chance to hand the Titans their first loss, but let it slip away in a few minutes. It’s clear that they depend totally on their running game which has been too inconsistent, hence their record. This is clearly the most disappointing team of the season.
22. (up 3) Cleveland Browns (4-6) Brady Quinn has a great first game and loses, than follows it up with a mediocre one in which he wins. Welcome to the NFL. The best news fort he Browns is he didn’t turn the ball over so far, the only area in which he is a significant improvement over Anderson so far, who will be almost as persued in the offseason as Cassel.
23. (down 18) Philadelphia Eagles (5-4-1) If tieing against the Bengals wasn’t bad enough, McNabb comes out and says he never knew there were ties in football. At this point you have to wonder who the dumber one on the Eagles is: McNabb or Reid? They have Westbrook on their team and give the unreliable McNabb over 50 passes? That’s just ridiculous. The fish always stinks from the head, Eagles fans. Time to rebuild the franchise.
24. (down 7) Buffalo Bills (5-5) I was suspicious of them from the get-go and now they’re proving me right. After their surprising start, helped by an easy schedule, they’ve fallen back below mediocrity. They haven’t beaten a single team with a winning record. Granted, they don’t face that many of those down the road, but even if they would win out, I don’t see them being anywhere in the vicinity of a top 15 team.
25. (up 4) San Francisco 49ers (3-7) Mike Singletary got his first win with the 49ers, albeit against the Rams. He can double this number in their rematch in Week 16, but probably won’t win many more.
26. (up 4) Kansas City Chiefs (1-9) I really like what they are doing with Tyler Thigpen, who emerged as a waiver-saviour for a few fantasy teams. I would rather face one of the 2- or 3-win-teams at this point than the Chiefs.
27. (down 5) Houston Texans (3-7) If the Colts make the play-offs, Sage Rosenfels is their MVP.
28. (down 1) Seattle Seahawks (2-8) As a sports fan, I wouldn’t want to live in Seattle right now.
29. (down 1) Oakland Raiders (2-8) How low can you sink to write a letter to Al Davis begging for your hiring. Honestly, Jim Fassell. I am ashamed you were the coach of Big Blue once. Actually, I was ashamed of you before that, so do whatever you want.
30. (down 7) St. Louis Rams (2-8) It’s inexplicable to me how the Rams beat the Redskins and the Cowboys, but I wouldn’t argue anyone at this point who claims the Rams to be the NFL’s worst team. It’s not Steven Jackson’s injury, he might be faking it as well. I know, I would if I wore a Rams uniform.
31. (up 1) Cincinnati Bengals (1-8-1) Who would have thought that the Bengals would participate in the year’s ugliest game? Yeah, me too.
32. (down 1) Detroit Lions (0-10) Let’s see, where can the Lions get their first win. Minnessota in week 14 is probably their only hope, which should be a scary thought for every Lion fan. But College fans should rejoice since most of their QBs won’t declare eligible for next years draft out of fear to don a Lions uniform.

Re: Levy's NFL Power Rankings: Week 11
Up until about 2 weeks ago they had the EXACT same schedule.
Both teams have 3 quality wins.
NYG with Pit/Bal/Az Ten with Bal/Ind/Chi
And if it came down to it, I would pick Tennessee to beat them. Sorry you don't agree. But again, you are biased.

The Patriots were great in the first half but far from dominant in the second half. Hell they barely beat the Giants in week 16.... and don't worry about Eli as half the time, he gets to hand off to the best rushing team in the NFL or make those impressive CLUTCH THROWS we all have seen him make.
