This is not a ban on single people adopting, it's a ban on couples cohabiting with a sexual partner outside of wedlock: Quote: Initiated Act 1 -- Bans adopting or placing minors in foster care with individuals cohabiting with a sexual partner outside of marriage. So it is very much a ban on gays and lesbians adopting. Errrr what? So only Gay couple's co-habit without getting married? Thats news to me. Right, but if a heterosexual couple is cohabiting together and they want to adopt, they can get married (they shouldn't have to obviously, this amendment is a piece of shit). Gays can't. Also...how do they even enforce this? Security cameras in rooms a prospective single adoptive parents? This is just some stupid shit. if gays had the right to get married in Arkansas, i would still support this initiative.

I just think that was the larger intent of the amendment or proposition or whatever you guys call them.

Re: CNN Wrong on Arkansas Ballot Measure
So there are really a lot of man-woman sexually active couples who live in the same house and want to raise an adopted child together with no interest in marriage? does that really happen? if so, what could possibly be wrong with them adopting a kid?

Re: CNN Wrong on Arkansas Ballot Measure
As snack said, it only applies to people living with a sexual partner out of wedlock, not single individuals. It's just a fancy way of saying that if you are gay, live with your partner, you can't adopt a child into that environment.
