I'm not sure I'm gonna be able to sleep tonight.

But I am pumped after the Redskins lost AND the results of Dixville Notch.

LMAO. Dixville Notch probably has the most google hits right now it has ever experienced since township-hood.

Getting up early to vote for Sarah! :wub2: I don't think they're gonna win, though. :tears: It doesn't really matter, the results of the Presidential election isn't going to impact my life significantly. I'm good to go either way.

This is really bad, but it almost feels surreal that the election is actually happening.

Do you guys think the site could crash? :zonks:

The polls have already closed in Dixville Notch, NH because all 21 eligible voters have cast their ballots. This village of 75 people traditionally opens the polls at midnight on election day and closes them a few minutes later after the last voter has performed his or her civic duty. Barack Obama got 71% of the vote here today. Dixville Notch is not a good bellwether, however; it has voted solidly Republican for decades. The last Democrat to carry the Notch was Hubert Humphrey in 1968. It is probably not a good start for McCain to have early election day news dominated by a story about a solidly Republican rural village voting overwhelmingly for Obama.

true and isn't NH like John McCain's 2nd home???

lol

I doubt he would win it, but many would expect him to be somewhat close in the State that has saved his political life twice.

Good luck to Obama, it should be a memorable day for him.

He has my absentee vote in Georgia.

Apparently there are already problems with polling places not being able to handle capacity in urban parts of Virginia. Hopefully this dies down.

That crap confuses me. There should be PLENTY of room (especially this year considering everyone knew there would be a massive turnout) even if every single person came out to vote. Yet election after election there's never enough room, enough ballots, workers, or something. It's 2008 and none of this will be solved as the day goes on Im sure.

I don't know, it reminds me of high school, which was an eternity ago. Seems in the 21st century, we should be a bit more advanced.

I like lo tech voting, the old pen and paper ballot and the election monitor ticking your name off the list. And then the hand counting the results trickling in over a 24 hour period.

Half the fun of elections is that, the idea of a hi tech instant vote instant count method kills all the fun in my view.

In my Gen Chem class last year, we had these little digital answer things where the problems showed up and we marked our answers (essentially like a scantron imprinted on an iPhone), and it was a disaster. One of the exams had to be completely void because the results were too screwy.

I say stick with Scantrons.

The time of computer voting is coming, there are glitches now, but 50 years from now it will be the norm. The issues of today won't be present years from now, and you have to remember, technology in general is still in it's infancy.

As for tonight, here are my predictions:

- Obama wins.
- The election is far closer than people expect.
- Obama loses at LEAST 5 of the following: VA, NC, OH, FL, IN, GA, MO
- PA is a nailbiter ... I think 50/49 and I'm not sure who wins.

I think Obama will win PA by like 3%, that is what Kerry won it by so I think it will go similar now. Of the states you mentioned I think he wins VA and OH. FL and MO could go either way. I think IN, NC, and GA go to McCain.

No Way! McCain is down 5 points in Ohio! Thank you Ohio for your redemption.
