Way to address the point.

Sadly, your dragging Obama's dead grandmother through the mud to score cheap political points probably IS your prettiest side. I take some comfort in the fact that at least some of the Freepers had a little class about this topic. Unfortunately, you're not one of them.

You keep justifying it to yourself that way as an excuse to drag his grandmother through the mud. You and Rush Limbaugh, who accused her of faking her illness (the one she just died from), are cut from the same cloth.

And his justification is legitimate.

That is terrible. But think about it this way; she died knowing her grandson was going to win, so she was probably still very happy about that. And, they did get to see eachother last week. Its cancer. She was probably mentally prepared, and she left knowing her grandson has already made history. Whether she sees the count come in or not doesn't really matter.

I'd say its clear that they're pushing the sympathy vote angle.

Thanx for the corroboration loyal! Finally someone else able to lift there head out of the fog of war - - partisan campaign war, that is...

On a personal level, it's sad when anyone close dies, though I'm sure it wasn't a surprise to Obama, since even he was quoted as saying she probably wouldn't survive till election day.

Check out this clip of Obama announcing his grandmother's death and tell me he's not using it for political advantage...

(And please note: I don't blame him. In these days of dirty politics, you've got to take every advantage and work every angle. And from all I've heard about the woman, she wasn't just a naive old granny - - I'd bet dollars to donuts, that when he went to see her last week, she herself encouraged Barack to make the most of the timing of her death.)

And that would bother you if it was Hillary as the nominee and she had a relative die? Didn't think so. ;)

It's not political. She didn't choose when she died. He didn't choose when she died. No one in that family wanted her to die the day before the election. Barack didn't NEED her to die to win this. He isn't going to get any significant increase in votes because of it. It hasnt come up on the news very often at all, since the initial stuff.

Whether he brought it up yesterday to help is one thing. (It's probably more likely that he did it because, yknow, she raised him and stuff, but I didnt see what he said about it.)

But Obama certainly wasn't "just going for the sympathy vote." That's dumb.

This is how it works.

If Obama had NOT mentioned her, he's an uncaring bastard who throws his family under the bus (ie his aunt or brother in Kenya).

If Obama does mention her, he's using her for political reasons to get a sympathy vote.

You can't win with these nutjobs. Don't even try.

No one was able to refute my contention.

Obama chooses to speak about his grandmother's death that day, but doesn't show any plain old human grief - - it's pure politics.
