Stupid Nuggets... at least we can say that we don't have Melo. Here's hoping for a better 2nd half.

Nuggets down by 18 points in a point of that game and they come back and win it in OT. Who woulda thunk it. It was the Clippers though. Good to get Melo back against the Lakers tomorrow or should I saw tonight. They are going to need all the help they can get for that game.

Woohoo!!! Way to go Iverson!! At least he still has some kick. Wow, I seriously thought we were going to throw in the towel. Hopefully that can help us get some good momentum, and if not that at least get something good from it.

Freaking a Melo. Get to the paint or use the jab step. He hasn't even scored yet!

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
Rose is already BY FAR the best player on his team. I wasn't expecting him to come out of the gate great, that means with the natural improvement of his first couple years, he'll be a Lebron/Paul level of superstar.

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
So the Knicks want to waive Marbury ... and the Nuggets are interested in him? What? Really? How on earth would that work?

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
By the rules, Marbury would clear waivers within two days, which would have to happen considering nobody can afford to just pick him up. At that point he would become a free agent that could be signed by Denver for the veteran's min. of 1.2 mil because Denver is over the cap and the vet. min. is the only way to sign players when you are, the new contract would be subtracted from the 22 mil the Knicks owe him, who would still be liable to pay the rest.

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
1) Would the Knicks pay that much to let him go? 2) Would the Nuggets really want another personality like that on their team? 3) How would he, Iverson and Melo find enough shots?

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
a) If he's just a negative to their team's success according to D'Antoni, I guess so. The ideal option would be to buy him out (where they pay like 85% of his contract to void it) depending on whether they can make a deal with him. But that might be difficult considering he's Marbury and considering he probably knows they're gonna waive him if his doesn't accept, in which case he'll make more money.
b) Nuggets are a mess... but I doubt they do this all the same.

I'm already fretting over the Nuggets as it is, this would make me even more crazy. I don't know ... I hope they don't land him.

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
Watching the Thunder game... I have to say that even though the Seattle thing was a heist, these fans are fantastic. They're treating a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves like it's the NBA Finals.. their energy led to OKC coming up with a pretty great comeback. I'll be happy if they win (up by 3 with 18 secs left)

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
Possible AI for Billips and McDyess trade?Well dang. That's a really interesting trade. Hopefully both Pistons can perform better in Denver than they did the 1st time. We finally have a point guard (although Anthony Carter was performing well). Now we can play Billups, JR Smith, Melo, KMart and Nene/McDyess. Not too shabby. As for the Pistons side, they have Stuckey who has looked ridiculously good. I'm positive he's ready to make the jump to be a full time starter, so the loss of Billups isn't that big. Same goes for Maxiell. And although AI is older, he still can give good minutes and score. I think this is a good trade for both teams. Although if Denver were in true rebuilding mode we would have waited to get rid of AI. Even though The Answer wasn't the answer for us, I really liked watching him play just due to how much effort he put out.

Source: Iverson traded to Detroit http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AtJgS8tXV8n52M0L2OQx4RY5nYcB?slug=aw-iversontraded110308&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Quote: Denver has traded All-Star guard Allen Iverson to Detroit in exchange for Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess, a league executive with knowledge of the talks said.
The deal is expected to be completed within the hour.
Billups helped guide the Pistons to the Eastern Conference finals during each of his previous six seasons in Detroit. He grew up in Denver and played 58 games for the Nuggets over two seasons from 1998-2000.
McDyess has had two previous stints with the Nuggets, and began his career with them in 1995.
Iverson was traded to Denver in December 2006, but was not able to help Carmelo Anthony lift the Nuggets out of the first round of the playoffs in his two seasons there.
The trade gives the Pistons salary-cap flexibility at the end of the season.
Iverson’s contract, which pays him $21.9 million this season, expires in July.
Billups is owed $36.3 million over the next three seasons and has an additional $14.2 million team option for 2011-12.
McDyess will make $6.8 million each of the next two seasons.

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
So, Pistons are rebuilding? Big expiring there, along with Wallace's - over $30m for those two.
Seems that it's a good trade for both teams.

Seems like a pretty safe trade. I hope it backfires on Detroit like the Kidd trade did for Dallas though.
I love big trades. I don't even care who is involved. No Balls Association no more!

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
I've been watching Billups for a while. I remember news stories all the time about him when he was in high school. I remember his senior year I went to go see him play against my high school (I was in the 7-8th grade across the street but always went to the high school games because it was free). He destroyed us. I then remember that a lot of people thought that he went out early from CU. I hope he does well for the Nuggets.
That said, we didn't use the Camby trade exception on the deal, so why did we trade him in the 1st place? Was there an injury that they knew about that we don't?

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
Nuggets is now more legit with a chance at the second round in playoffs, while Pistons closed its championship window with no chance of making the conference finals.

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
Wow, I wasn't expecting that one!
I thought Iverson for Kidd would've been the more likely one, but in this case the Nuggets badly get some more depth in the frontcourt so it will work out, and they might actually contend now. Martin/McDyess is actually excellent defensively.
Can't see the Pistons winning this year, like Nebs I think it's more looking to the future.

Ah it looks like McDyess hates Denver so he's either gonna be bought out or retire

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
Blast! I liked McDyess a lot more now than I did when he was underperforming for the Nuggets. I really liked the possibility of a McDyess/Martin under the rim. Maybe there's still a chance he will play for Denver?

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
Marc Gasol is on his way to like a 30/15 tonight... has 23/11 and it's the first couple minutes of the 3rd. Granted he is playing the Warriors.
The Pau heist is starting to look not only good, but brilliant. They ended up sucking enough to get Mayo, got Gasol and Crittenton, and are totally set financially with a ton of capspace next summer. If they somehow convince Boozer to sign in their crap market (money talks), the league is fucked.

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
From J.A. Adande Quote: Here's the problem if they're going to go the big-name route: Who's going to come to Detroit? It's not a dream destination. The Pistons can't offer up Hollywood or South Beach. If LeBron craves a bigger stage than Cleveland, he won't find it in Detroit.
It might be easier to lure someone if the Pistons were to appear to be on the brink of a championship. But they've been moving in the opposite direction, and no longer are the favorites in the Eastern Conference. The irony is that the Pistons' fruitless attempts to win without a superstar could hurt their chances to get a superstar.
