 Re: Fringe
It was my favorite episode so far. I thought last week's was sub-par. This week's episode was exciting and got us into an entirely new story.

 Re: Fringe
Anna Torv still bores me to death but I'm liking this show more and more.
Oh and Michael Cerveris in a guest appearance away from Broadway? Super.

 Re: Fringe
She's by far the worst part of the show. She's just soooo bland.
I really like John Noble though. His interactions with Joshua Jackson have been getting better and better. His character seemed less....stupid this episode though.
Do you think Cerveris is going to be an important part of the show from now on?

 Re: Fringe
After the very meh 3rd epsiode I was ready to give up but they really brought the A game with this one. At last an interesting feel to the central storyline.
Still I sense Abrams trademark "fuck with the audience" moments are soon to arrive. Oh an the female lead is still terrible.

 Re: Fringe
Anna Torv is a little too Plain Jane for my liking. Even Gillian Anderson at her most plain (earliest Files) was attractive. And Anderson can act circles around Torv. She could start by doing something with the straight hair.
She's made me really like Joshua Jackson on the show, and that is not something I can forgive. Not ever.
Still, the show is good right now, but you can see it coming a mile away that by the end of this season or the start of Season 2, the show will be as convoluted as Alias, Lost, The X-Files and any other show have ever been.

 Re: Fringe
I didn't like the episode at all. And the last revelation seemed like it was thought of just before they filmed the scene.

 Re: Fringe
So I tried watching this tonight after house. Totally uninteresting. It's just like a poor man's X-Files rip-off without charming leads or involving storylines.
But hey! I gave it a try.

 Re: Fringe
John Noble is good in this yes. And the guy playing his son isn't too bad. Those characters work. The lead girl though is boring as hell and everyone else is pretty meh. I think this show could be good if they tweaked it a lot, changed a few things and maybe recast a couple roles too.
But for now I'm done with it.

But for now I'm done with it. My only problem really is the lead, Anna Torv. If her role was recast (and rewritten, because it's not entirely the actress's fault when the character is so damn serious and straight-laced), it would be great, but I doubt that'll happen. Maybe she'll improve as the show goes along.
They could pretty much ditch everyone except for the four (Anna Torv, Josh Jackson, John Noble and the cute assistant), and I'd be fine. Whenever a different supporting character is on screen, I find myself tuning it out.

 Re: Fringe
It's not improving. It's still mediocre semi-interesting wanna be SF show with a horrible lead saved by very good supporting characters.

 Re: Fringe
I'm watching, but another problem: it seems like every episode revolves around John Noble strapping someone (usually Josh Jackson) up and sizzling their brain.

 Re: Fringe
The last episode was pretty good. John Noble should see a Golden Globe nomination in a few weeks, if they have a single shred of credibility (some will argue they don't), but Josh Jackson should be commended for actually holding up alongside Noble. He won't be getting any awards nominations anytime soon, but it's quite the feat that John Noble steals the show and Jackson holds up well opposite him. The chemistry between the two is great.
Too bad Anna Torv has no chemistry with anyone. But I do like her more than I did at the start. If she'd do something with the hair and smile more, she wouldn't be so bad.
I did, however, realize who she reminds me of: Donna (Laura Prepon) on That 70's Show. The two have the same hair (except the color), the same look, and almost talk the same. Mind you, I haven't seen Prepon in a long time so I may be way off, but in my head, the resemblance is, as they say, uncanny.

 Re: Fringe
Well this was the best episode yet. Finally something interesting is happening. Unlike X-Files that pulled off better standalone episodes, it seems like Fringe is better when developing mythology. They even connected some of the previous episodes which was cool.

 Re: Fringe
Last night's episode was really weird and proved it's not X-Files v 2.0 or even 10.0.
It was set up to be a MotW episode and after an interesting opening, they tossed it away.

 Re: Fringe
Even grosser lol. I somewhat tolerate Anna Torv now. Her blankness is still a problem.
Also, drunk Caroline from Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist has a recurring role as Olivia's sister! I like Ari Graynor.
