 The VP Debate
It will be this Thursday. Have the expectations been lowered so much for Palin that she can win simply by not being completely stupid?

Watching Palin debate will make me cringe the same way as when I'd watch David Brent on The Office.

 Re: The VP Debate
I'm worried the media and McCain crew will spin it to make Biden look like a jerk.
Either that or Palin won't talk at all, and with all that speaking time Biden will make a couple gaffes.
He's a good on-point speaker though, and he did well in the debates in the primaries for the two minutes he was in them.

She will survive like Dan Quayle did with Lyold Bentsen. Palin only has to bring up her comparison with Hillary with Biden telling her "shes no Hillary"

 Re: The VP Debate
Latest from the NY Times. http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/09/29/palin-says-she-is-looking-forward-to-debate/Quote: COLUMBUS, Ohio – “So I guess it’s my turn now,’’ Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska told a rally here Monday, saying that she looked forward to her big debate this week.
“And I do look forward to Thursday night, and debating Senator Joe Biden,’’ said Ms. Palin, whose uneven performance in interviews and unscripted events have sown seeds of doubt in recent days among some conservative commentators who support her.
“I’m looking forward to meeting him, too,’’ she said. “I’ve never met him before, but I’ve been hearing about his Senate speeches since I was in, like, second grade.’’
“I have to admit, though, he’s a great debater, and he looks pretty doggone confident, like he’s sure he’s going to win,’’ Ms. Palin, 44, said of Mr. Biden, 65. “But then again, this is the same Senator Biden who said the other day that University of Delaware would trounce the Ohio State Buckeyes. Wrong!†So according to the analogy that she tried to use, would she be the Ohio State Buckeyes? Isn't that the exact opposite of what she'd be in the debate? Delaware isn't even in the same league as OSU (literally, lower division) and would be a complete underdog. Even as a college football fan, I don't see the connection. Biden was trying to rally the team before they left. Obviously I'm looking way too much into the comment since she was just trying to gain some Ohio votes and booster some confidence. Columbus would definitely be the place to use the football analogy though.

 Re: The VP Debate
The upcoming downside for the Obama-Biden campaign is that its supporters became so flustered over Palin's surprisingly explosive popularity coming out of the GOP convention. They have so successfully mocked, derided and lowered expectations for Palin in Thursday night's VP debate that if she doesn't drool or speak in tongues, many millions still open to persuasion will be impressed.http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washing ... n-m-5.html

 Re: The VP Debate
“She's very skilled and she'll be well-prepared,†said Barack Obama’s chief strategist David Axelrod Sunday night, flying with Biden back to Delaware to help him get ready...
Taking it one step farther, Biden spokesman David Wade later added, “He's going in here to debate a leviathan of forensics, who has debated five times and she's undefeated.â€Â

 Re: The VP Debate
Of concern to McCain's campaign, however, is a remaining and still-undisclosed clip from Palin's interview with Couric last week that has the political world buzzing.
The Palin aide, after first noting how "infuriating" it was for CBS to purportedly leak word about the gaffe, revealed that it came in response to a question about Supreme Court decisions.
After noting Roe vs. Wade, Palin was apparently unable to discuss any major court cases.
There was no verbal fumbling with this particular question as there was with some others, the aide said, but rather silence.Source

Inexperienced beats experience every day. Why, just look at what the past eight years has gotten us! Who wouldn't want more of the same?

 Re: The VP Debate
I predict that Biden will do better, but Palin will survive the night without any major gaffe, and it will be hailed as a victory by her supporters.
Palin only gets into trouble when she is nailed down and repeatedly asked a specific question until she is forced to answer it directly. This does not happen in debates. She will be allowed to give rambling off-topic answers filled with cliched lines.

You know. I dont agree with McCain in a hell lot of things. Though I have a certain respect for him....and i kinda feel sorry for him to have Palin on his side. If US is gonna elect those both......the next 4 years and the last 8 years of Bush will give the death strike to the United Staates.

This is why the McCain insisted on shorter questions and less answer time. They know what her weaknesses are. And speaking in public without a script on important topics is one of them.

 Re: The VP Debate
Palin today: "[Biden]'s got a lot of experience and just stating the fact there, that we've been hearing his speeches for all these years. So he's got a tremendous amount of experience and, you know, I'm the new energy, the new face, the new ideas and he's got the experience based on many many years in the Senate and voters are gonna have a choice there of what it is that they want in these next four years."
Palin endorses new ideas and energy over experience. Better tell John McCain.
