Who would you like to see run for President?
4 years, 8 years, 12 years or more from now.
And don't list Obama or McCain, plz. Let's see which other Governors or Senators, etc. people here are interested in.
No poll since there's obviously too many options, but maybe if everyone can list a few we can tally the results every other day or something.

I wish Barney Frank had a chance, but he doesn't. So I'll say Claire McCaskill.

Re: Who would you like to see run for President?
If Obama losses, Hilary automatically wins the democratic nomination hands down.

Re: Who would you like to see run for President?
The type of people I'd like to see become president, like Senator Schumer or Senator Hagel, don't have the level of egomania to run and win the nomination.

What? He's got great, liberal politics, would smooth talk his wayinto the hearts of foreign leaders, and would make press conferences very easy on the eye. Doesn't that sound like a great profile for the prez to you too, Filmo?

Re: Who would you like to see run for President?
I don't think anyone, no matter how much I agree with them, should jump from nothing to president. Let him run for Senate first. I mean, geez, you can't criticize Palin for being unqualified if you support some actor being President who has never held any public office at all.

I don't criticize Palin for being unqualified as far as length of years in office goes; I criticize her for having shit social-conservative views and not even attempting to keep up with the major issues we are facing as a nation today, by even, like, reading an international-oriented daily newspaper. I think its fair to say Clooney, Tina Fey, and pretty much everyone else in the country even mildly concerned with politics of political stumping knows more about major issues than Palin does. Archie Gates wrote: dolcevita wrote: What? He's got great, liberal politics, would smooth talk his way into the hearts of foreign leaders, and would make press conferences very easy on the eye. And yeah, I thought this was a hypothetical sort of poll thread, otherwise of course I would have said Hillary (she still has my heart). But, I dunno. If Clooney gave very, very specific details about his policy plans, and I agreed with them, and he came up with very stable responses to pressure questions (in interviews, debates, etc), than I'd be mighty tempted to vote for him whether he had a year or two behind him in the Senate or not...

It's not Palin's short time in office that make her unqualified (IMO). It's her lack of curiosity, intelligence, and her views on the issues. And if the founding fathers had wanted someone experienced in politics in the WH, they would have put that in the Constitution. And they wouldn't have elected George Washington as the 1st president.
