McCain: We need to deregulate healthcare like we did banks
Oooooops.
Opening up the health insurance market to more vigorous nationwide competition, as we have done over the last decade in banking, would provide more choices of innovative products less burdened by the worst excesses of state-based regulation.
Let's see you try to sell that one to the people, McCain.
Of course that was yesterday. I'm sure his position has completely flipped as of today.

From what I've seen of competition EDIT: In institutional management, the big money usually steps in and kills it, otherwise the little companies lack capital, and then the big money kills them.

Yeah I posted about this yesterday in the general election thread. If Obama plays his cards right he can make this a devastating ad.

Re: McCain: We need to deregulate healthcare like we did banks
Another gigantic Ooooooops.
"The McCain campaign has responded to these and other attacks by accusing Obama of fear mongering, repeatedly denying that the Arizona Republican ever supported privatization in the first place.
"He's not ever talked about outsourcing Social Security into the private sector," senior adviser Steve Schmidt told reporters Thursday.
And now the prestige...
McCain has in fact argued that privatization is necessary to maintain Social Security into the future.
"Without privatization, I don't see how you can possibly, over time, make sure that young Americans are able to receive Social Security benefits," McCain declares at a December 2004 event in New Hampshire.
