The problem is that, without his teleprompter, Obama freezes up like a nun on prom night, drools all over himself, then passes out cold. McCain, on the other hand, was a POW, and...well...that's all you need to know.

It will be a medieval bloodbath and I fully expect McCain to get a 25 point bounce after the debates, with the public demanding to vote right then and there to elect McCain president.

And you don't think McCain is pushing for a format that favors himself? McCain challenged Obama to debates. Obama didn't refuse, he agreed. Together the two camps agreed on four total debates.

I'm not sure what more you want or what you expect to happen? Beyond the agreed upon debates, I'm not imagining that Obama is going to drop his entire campaign schedule to suit McCain's every little challenge. And McCain is clearly asking for more than he knows will happen so that he can accuse Obama of "refusing to debate him."

Obama always wants to say lets talk about the issues, in a town hall meeting you could do that. Instead he is standing up making the same speech we have already heard over and over again.

I am not saying it is, I am just saying McCain has done what you are criticizing Obama for doing.

not really. McCain called for 10 town halls in battleground states. Obama comes back with, how about 1 in my state.

That is because those town hall meetings weren't going to be on TV, were going to be on Mccain's terms, and have Mccain's people in the audience. Obama would be nuts to agree to those terms.

What they agreed to was 3 debates plus a veep debate. They agreed on the terms. McCain is throwing out those townhalls with conditions he know that Obama won't accept as a smoke screen so he can say "Obama refuses to debate me."

And apparently that sort of thing works on some people.

So Obama won't agree to McCain's every demand on McCain's terms, and that's the same as Obama refusing to debate McCain at all.

But McCain refusing to meet Obama's demands on one debate is perfectly reasonable because that would be unfair to McCain.

You haven't yet acknowledged that Obama has agreed to meet with McCain on mutually agreed terms in mutually agreed places. You keep harping on Obama meeting on McCain's terms in McCain's places.

But, conversely, you think it would be unfair to McCain to meet on Obama's terms in Obama's places.

I haven't read where mccain wants it with his audience, it that is true, then I do disagree with the idea of a town hall meeting. It should be in a battleground state on neutral ground.
