 Celebrities and Politics
I am sure many have noticed some of the odd and usually stupid ways celebrities endorse a candidate. For example, Diddy with his "Diddy Blog" or that one guy from black eyed peas with his outfit at the vmas. Just like in 04, Hollywood is behind the democrat. Since people seemed to be do influenced by celebrities on other topics/subjects, do you think they affect elections at all?
I personally hate when celebrities get involved in politics because most are clueless to the actual issues and just seem to follow the trend. But there are some celebrities that do their research. Also does hollywood's endorsement of Obama help him and make him more of a celebrity like McCain's camp suggests?

His campaign are hypocrites and lying sacks of shit. They've been bragging about what a "rock star" Palin is and we're supposed to believe they have a problem with celebrity? Arnold Schwarzenegger is a Republican. Sonny Bono was a Republican. Republicans clearly have no problem with voting for Hollywood celebrities. They just don't like liberal ones. But they don't like liberal ANYTHING. So the anti-Hollywood thing is a canard to appeal to the base, just like their anti-"San Francisco values" canard. Ultimately, I don't think people much care and I don't think celebs make a difference one way or another.

Even when he was alive, Republicans tried to name everything in the country after him, wanted his face on Rushmore, etc. That's actually died down in recent years.

 Re: Celebrities and Politics
Celebrity is terrible for a candidate, don't you know? If you draw huge crowds, you've got a Messiah complex and you should be viewed with distrust by everyone. That's what McCain said and he...
Hey, look! It's Sarah Palin! Wow, the huge crowds just love her! Look at all the people! Just goes to show that when the people love you, you can do no wrong!

 Re: Celebrities and Politics
Celebrities can help a campaign by fundraising and maybe doing publicity ads that make sense but when you have celebs using vulgar language when referencing McCain or Bush (not that I disagree) then doesn't play well with middle america. They should keep there comments to a minimum and try to work behind the scenes to help the candidate instead of creating clips to make the rounds of Rush or Hannity.

Has anyone seen the Matt Damon interview video about Palin? Is that real or not?

Misutaa wrote: Has anyone seen the Matt Damon interview video about Palin? Is that real or not? It's very real. It's been played all over conservative radio and it's definitely his voice and his clearly talking about Palin. This just adds fuel to the fire for that crowd when a celebrity starts freaking out about Palin questioning her religion, her pick as absurd and her experience if she had to face down Putin as laughable. What can I say except that his questioning of her experience is very valid but delving off into her beliefs just isn't a smart move to do. Obama should really tell his celebrity supporters to really keep their comments at a minimum. http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&q=mat ... ision&cd=1

How is questioning someone who thinks dinosaurs roamed the earth 4,000 years ago's ability to be president not valid? He should be outright questioning her sanity, because anyone who holds those "beliefs" clearly has none.

 Re: Celebrities and Politics
When Matt Damon poses that question to Barack Obama then he ask that same question to Palin.
