was he on foxnews again? what he say?

No, it was on MSNBC

The reporter started by saying Palin had no experience, blah blah blah, the usual rant.

And Newt tore into him, clearly listing her accomplishments in comparison to Obama (a first on-air I think). It ended with Newt saying Obama wrote some books and made some speeches, which while being dismissive, is kinda true.

She's a governor. And so were 16 past presidents, including 4 of the last 5.

She was governor of fucking state with polar bears, ice, snow and morons. I've got more experience to be president. Alaska is smaller than most of the major cities in the U.S. Hell Providence, Rhode island is more populace.

And the town she was mayor of was 8% the size of the crowd that was in the stadium for Obama's speech.

Obama never suggested that tire pressure maintenance be a matter of public policy. If Palin had simply suggested that teens are better off abstaining, you'd have a point. But abstinence-only education IS a matter of public policy by the administration and Palin has supported it. Creationists HAVE tried to inject Creationism into public schools and Palin supports that too. Do you really not see the difference?

She also denies man-made global warming. She opposed protection of polar bears in Alaska.

These are not little issues, especially with her support of government policy.

A town for which Palin requested and received $27 million in federal earmarks.

You do realize Obama did next to nothing in the Illinois State Legislature, outside of the very bad habit of voting present instead of for or against a bill. He was clearly covering his ass.

It would be better if you just said he had no experience

Don't talk shit about Illinois unless you know something about the state. You're too smart to fall for the "voting present" meme. Read up on what a "present" vote means in the Illinois legislature, and why people vote present. Hint: it's not due to fear of taking positions.

Neither has McCain. If that's so important to you, maybe you should support Palin for president.

I totally would support Palin for president. Sadly, that's not a choice.

By saying she "supports" it you imply that she made it a part of either gubernatorial or vice-presidential agenda. Here's her clarification on Creationism:

Quote:
In an interview Thursday, Palin said she meant only to say that discussion of alternative views should be allowed to arise in Alaska classrooms:

"I don't think there should be a prohibition against debate if it comes up in class. It doesn't have to be part of the curriculum."

She added that, if elected, she would not push the state Board of Education to add such creation-based alternatives to the state's required curriculum.

http://dwb.adn.com/news/politics/electi ... 3554c.html
(This is from October 2006, before she was even the governor)

This is a far cry from wanting to teach Creationism in the classroom.

Denies man-made global warming or is skeptical about it? You won't find me disagreeing with that :-D
I don't know much about the polar bear issue, but I think we can safely agree it's not the most important point on the agenda.

Why? She's energetic, smart, not a two-faced liar like McCain and I agree with her on a hell of a lot more issues than with Obama.

Having lived in Illinois for 15+ years, I know quite a bit.

What's the beef about voting present then? You should know its purpose and traditions before rehashing a pointless smear against the Illinois state legislature.

I really have a lot of disdain for the republican party. The things that they way just make no sense to me. It's really sad that 50% of our nation thinks this way.

So the tire guage thing you regarded as idiotic by Obama, but not Palin's support of abstinence-only education? Not her rejection of science. Not her support of the Bridge To Nowhere and then denying that she did? Not her support of earmarks and then claims to be a reformer?

What exactly puts you over the top policy wise?

I never said the tire gauge thing was idiotic; might not have been the smartest comment in the world, but not idiotic. The point is that neither are making this a part of their agenda.

I like her personality, I've been impressed by her speeches and interviews so far.
I agree with her on more positions than I agree with Obama, but that doesn't mean that I agree with her on everything - that's impossible.

In the end this election, to me, is about personalities, not about positions. Obama's winning that battle against McCain by a mile, but I would prefer Palin over him.

I've seen some of her speeches and interviews. She comes fairly intelligent and well-rounded.

I'm sure it will be a good speech, it was written for her by their best speech writers then they went over it with her to add a few personal touches. I think she'll do well tonight.

If she hadn't been picked, she still would have been someone they would choose to give an important speech at the convention.

Does that apply to Obama too?

I've never been that impressed by Obama speeches. I think he does a decent job but they don't "wow" me the way they seem to others - other than I can't imagine how he keeps his composure and isn't too nervous in such huge settings, that's impressive.

If you're asking if others write Obama speeches? No idea, probably they contribute to it at least. I know that they did write Palin's for her because they admitted it.

For the most part, Obama writes his own speeches. He wrote his acceptance speech last week and he wrote his 2004 DNC speech. He's written two best-selling books, so it's not like he's a stranger to word-smithing.

Post Re: The Republican Convention
McCain spokesman Steve Schmidt when asked to justify Palin's raising taxes and requesting earmarks from the federal government with her "reform" stance and McCain's tax cut policies: "She raised sales taxes because that was the right thing to do for that town at that time. It shows that she doesn’t adhere to a dogmatic principle. We have to have taxes in this country. Here’s the difference. Sen. Obama wants to raise everybody’s federal taxes. Gov. Palin and Sen. McCain are going to cut them."

So raising taxes is now a good thing because it makes her a maverick? Huh? And that line about Obama is an outright lie that the McCain camp continues to peddle despite it being shown to be false time and time again.
