 Re: The Democratic Convention
Amazing speech, probably best speech since Kennedy. He was tough and showed he won't take the attacks.

It's about time a Democrat goes after these jerks on a big public stage. Some moron on Larry King's show was trying to say that the disaster of Katrina was in no way Bush's fault. Basically tried to blame the disastrous 8 years of Bush's administration on external factors. It was Bush who ignored the intel leading up to 9/11. He was no less responsible than Clinton, who also ignored the warning signals. Then there's the Iraq War, which was planned before 9/11 even happened. And what horrible planning it was. That disastrous war's failure cannot be passed off as an external factor. It was his administration that decided to start that war in the first place. Then there's the funding of the Iraq War. We've been running up our debt to China. China is paying for our fucking war. How pathetic is that?! Then there's the Katrina disaster. Incompetence at every level, from the city, to the state, and most notoriously at the federal level. Embarrassment is the only way to look at it. Then there's the mortgage crisis. Now this I will say was building up over a long time and he really couldn't do much to stop it. Still though, his own disastrous policies already made him a lame duck President by the time that crisis hit.

 Re: The Democratic Convention
I caught a bit of Obama's speech on CNN after getting back from the movies, I hadn't seen any of the media coverage otherwise this week - - but I guess I'm just too cynical to enjoy that sort of bunk anymore - - what I heard was standard issue political pandering BS - - and the guy's speaking style leans toward William Shatner at his worst.
But I'm happy to see that so many of you are so thoroughly entranced... it's like a blissful state of anesthesia...

 Re: The Democratic Convention
I used to watch "The American President" and "West Wing" and say "Damn, why can't we have an intelligent, liberal president who can give a great speech like that?"
