Week-to-week:

ARE WE THERE YET? -43.2%
THE AVIATOR 15.6%
MEET THE FOCKERS -39.8%
COACH CARTER -45.5%
ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 -49.2%
IN GOOD COMPANY -42.3%
THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA -27%
RACING STRIPES -29.7%

Million Dollar Baby and Sideways had massive expansions, so the weekly comparison doesn't make sense. The Aviator is also misleading since the oscar bump started on last Tuesday. Since there isn't much weather change from last to this week, we are seeing normal weekly drops again, around 40-50% for most films.

Phantom just continues to have a great run. It is up to 40 million now and has never really had a weekend over 5 million. I expect it to hit 60 million domestically and over 100 worldwide ... a moderate sucess.

I would be very impressed if it pulled over 60 million. Call me conservative, but I think it would be extremely lucky (but well deserved) if it toppled Moulin Rouge. The international numbers, however, are looking stunning at this point. I am quite impressed. Only a few markets have been letdowns. Seems it will finish up making a few dollars for the Webber. (The studio get's the money first, as part of their distribution agreement, right?).

Well I hope so since everyone has gushed over this movie and considering it just expanded screens, it couldn't even beat out a low budget horror movie for the weekend like Hide and Seek.. I'm not quite sure I understand that one.. One would''ve thought it would've been #1 for the weekend..

Well, BKB, Hide and Seek does have Robert De Niro in it, and not just some B movie actor, and it did open in 1000 more theaters than Million Dollar Baby expanded to (3005 to 2010) , so those numbers are a little misleading. It didn't actually kick it's ass or anything. It's also a good bet that all of those that saw M$B before it expanded, would have seen it this weekend if it hadn't been released yet, so now you're talking a difference of less than a million dollars between the two movies, with M$B being in 1000 theaters less. You can even chop off a few million, because I'm sure some who already saw M$B early , went again, and wouldn't have went twice in one weekend for the most part. I'll bet you anything, unless Hide and Seek is a rare phenomenon for a scary thriller, that M$B will pass it up soon enough. It already passed up Are We There Yet?
