Is Billboard.com not working for anyone else?

Great for Disturbia. Love the song.

Also, burnin' up isn't too bad...lol.

Post Re: Music Sales/Chart Thread (Billboard/Hits Daily Double)
Hehe....I knew Jonas Brothers' fanbase would've led to an incredibly frontloaded (for the initial week, at least) release. Estimates have been lowered by 100K. Hopefully they'll drop even more.

Quote:
JONAS' WHALE OF A DEBUT: You'll have to wait, ahem, A Little Bit Longer to find out for sure, but the Jonas Brothers' new Hollywood album of the same name is right now on target for around 650k in first-week sales, give or take a weekend surge, and obviously a lock for #1. That's slightly less than previous projections, but still easily the third largest debut of the year, behind only Lil' Wayne and Coldplay. (8/15p)

AND THE REST: After the Jonas, the rest of HITS Top 10 next week will look something like this: 2) Mamma Mia (Decca) 100-110k, 3) Kid Rock (Atlantic) 85-90k, 3) Miley Cyrus (Hollywood) 80-85k, 5) Sugarland (Mercury Nashville) 65-70k, 6) Lil’ Wayne (Cash Money/Universal Motown) 60-65k, 7) Coldplay (Capitol) 50-55k, 8) Camp Rock (Walt Disney) 50-55k, 9) Rihanna (Def Jam/IDJ) 45-50k, 10) Jonas Brothers (Hollywood) 35-40k. If you're counting, that gives Disney Music Group's Bob Cavallo a very impressive four in the Top 10. Now that's a magic kingdom. (8/15p)

3 Jonas Bros. albums (1 being a movie soundtrack) in the top 10, along with Miley. :yummy: Disney, Disney, Disney.

I read the last band to do that was Nsync when they had 2 albums in the top 10.

OK enough of this Jonas hype... :shades:

So as I'm sure you've all noticed (snack) some group I've never heard of Hi Masters have recorded All Summer Long, released it on iTunes, and now it's hit the top 10.

My question is, will it chart separately on the Billboard Hot 100 ? It has to. If so, wouldn't Kid Rock have the right to pursue legal action? The whole point was that he did not want that song to be released on iTunes.

Both versions will be able to chart. I'm not sure why, but I don't think there's much Kid Rock can do legally...I think this Hi Masters band works the same way as the "Countdown Singers."

Besides, All Summer Long is a blatant ripoff of "Sweet Home Alabama," and IMO deserves this kind of treatment because of Kid Rock's lack of talent/douchebad release plans. :P

I found this, thought I'd post it since there are many Archie fans here.

IDOL HANDS: American Idol runner-up David Archuleta's new single, "Crush," is soaring at iTunes, with 164k in digital sales. His debut album is slated for November release on 19 Recordings/Jive/ZLG. (8/18p)

Maybe he can appeal to the older crowd like Groban has, but also keep his appeal to the teen market.

HDD was way off on the Jonas Brothers, but it's still a big debut. One notable thing about the chart is that they managed to have 2 Studio albums in the top 10, no artist has been able to do that since Nsync, and 3 if you count Camp Rock. And I bolded New Kids On The Block for Libs. :P

I totally called that. Incredible frontloadedness in the first week...but of course with Disney constant marketing, it should be able to have good legs in the long run even if it doesn't have any more hit singles.

Down 200k+ from initial estimates is insane though.

It's happening a lot now for big albums... I remember Beyonce's second album was projected at like over 750 k but ended up with much less.... plus Jonas Brothers' fans are insane.... I doubt they are waiting types... although you are right, they will continue strong on the charts for a while.... they will have a steep drop next week and probably the third week as well, but then they should stabilize...

Post Re: Music Sales/Chart Thread (Billboard/Hits Daily Double)
Bleeding Love hit 3 million digital sales this week, becoming the first song of 2008 to do so (and 7th song ever). It should finish around #4 all-time.
Also, should finish as the #1 non-Holiday season digital seller of all time.

Uninteresting HDD One Days:

JONAS ON TOP A LITTLE BIT LONGER

Hollywood Records Rockers Will Be #1 a Second Week, Mamma Mia!, Kid Rock and Staind Will Battle for #2

August 20, 2008

Hollywood’s teenpop heartthrobs will get another week to strut their stuff at the head of the class.
The Jonas Brothers will stay #1 A Little Big Longer, even if they lose the usual 60-70% from their first-week total of 515k.

The summer’s surprise smash, Decca’s Mamma Mia! soundtrack, will battle it out for #2 with Atlantic’s Kid Rock and Atlantic’s Staind, the week’s biggest debut, somewhere in the 95k range.

Other Top 50 bows will include The Firm Music/EMI’s Ice Cube (65k) and Suretone/ Interscope’s Shwayze, which is trending toward 45k right now, but could go even higher with multiple showings of the Buzzin’ reality series on MTV this week. Finally, Fueled By Ramen/Decaydance Chicago emo-rockers The Academy Is… looks in the 30k range for their new album, Fast Times at Barrington High.

Overall, the market was up 2% vs. last week, down 13% vs. same week last year, and still hovering around 11% year-to-date, which brings up this thought: Can Michael Phelps sing? How about his mom?

Wow at Taylor Swift and David Archuletta.
LOL at Hit Master's "All Summer Long".
Rihanna is likely to keep the #1 spot for a while unless David Archuletta can overtake her on radio airplay or if T.I. can sustain digitial downloads and get a lot of radio airplay.

Amazing for Archie. He actually debuted higher than David Cook. Hopefully he doesn't see sharp declines in the coming weeks like David Cook saw though.

Poor Chris Brown. He's had many singles reach the No.2/No.3 spot, but they just never hit No.1

And great for Taylor Swift as well, I think she is stealing some of Carrie Underwood's thunder.
