Box wrote: Britain is having an incredible Olympics. Why? It seems everyone except Russia is going well. Lol yea, it sure seems like that... although track and field is going to help them a lot since the women are pretty good at some stuff.... Some of my favorite moments of the last events The 100 M dash: The men was insane!! Although i think that Bolt is a bit too arrogant but he is really amazing....it almost seems like he isn't even trying... does he even sweat? The women 100 M dash was better in my opinion and the winner was so genuinely happy. a bit refreshing to see. Loved her insanity and it lacked the arrogance that Bolt had. anywho, Jamaica killed both dashes. great year for them. Too bad for the USA... they weren't even a threat to them. The Gymnastics was great as usual... it was disappointing for Nastia Liukin but still she should be proud of herself...she had a great performance in the unbalanced bars but so the two Chinese gymnasts....overall I fell like the Women are strong than the men in gymnastics... Loved the trampoline games....they are insanely fun to watch...too bad NBC isn't too considered about them....are they going to show Artistic Gymnastics at all?? last note: I felt VERY bad for the Romanian guy in the horse vault. He stuck his landing and got an AMAZING 9.8 for execution...but then did a very difficult routine and landed on his butt...oh well...

Horton got a way too high grade at the horizontal bar. 9.3/9.4 was laughable with that landing

Nice win for the ex-austrian, now-german weight-lifter Matthias Steiner who lost his wife in a car accident last year and had a picture of her at the victory ceremony.

What's the record for most golds won by a country in a non-boycott olympic?

Fuck England.
Australia had one of the worst meets in Cycling history. We got 7 gold in Athens, but so far only 1 silver. Shame! At least we still have Hockey, Sailing, Diving and Basketball to go. And i think the marathon.

So again, well done. btw this is the first time you've beaten us in gold in ages. Kinda sad.

7 out of 8 possible golds for Chinese men's gymnastic team, and unlike women, all well deserved here. I guess 50 total golds is possible.
The cycling team from U.K. is unbelievable.

Re: Official Summer Olympics 2008 Thread
I got so bored with gymnastics this year that I just stopped watching it. Total disappointment as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't have given any of the contestants that I saw a medal.
The fun part of these Olympics for me has been to watch some of the sports I never watched before, like volleyball. They were so much more fun than I anticipated.

Re: Official Summer Olympics 2008 Thread
Also, these Olympics remind me once again of how awful the 1996 Atlanta Olympics were. So cheap and stupid.

Re: Official Summer Olympics 2008 Thread
Haven't they already achieved the goal they set for themselves for 2012?
I think it has a lot to do with Russia just tanking at these Olympics (I mean their ranking). I suspect they will try to brush up for 2012, heh.
It seems everyone else is really having a great Olympics. Can anyone point to any losers? Greece is one, but that's kinda expected.
Germany needs two more gold to equal their 2004/2000 haul. Still kinda disappointing; they can do better.

OMG some Canadian trampoline dude did great Except for the end, but I think we've got another medal. Also, why is trampoline a sport?

Re: Official Summer Olympics 2008 Thread
I presume thats 'friendly' Pom vs Aussie rivalry eh guys? Bodrul can you please reduce the size of your sig a little. Thanks. As for the Brits - yeah they are extremely well - but remember the population difference Aussies lost a few key golds aswell which is a shame and sure fire winners like hockey, veldrome etc just flopped.

Re: Official Summer Olympics 2008 Thread
BTW - what happens when two people tie and they both get a gold - does that mean someone also gets silver and someone else bronze? so 4 people onthe podium? Or is bronze then removed? Likewise if there is a tie for silver?
