It was great in sports, period. It`s pretty amazing to see Olga doing those things. Honestly. And she`s supposed to be the second best on her teamÉ

And Nadia in 1976 :wub2: The Romanians rock too.

Canada did not win a single gold in 1976 :disgust:

It is kind of annoying that they were so good because after every event my dad says "in the soviet there was ____, these people are nothing compared to them." it gets annoying..lol

But he`s right. Our generation sucks.

And I assume you personally are to blame for some of this. I mean, I don`t see you winning any medals.

No, that`s quite old. Good for her! Being there is a prize in itself, I`m sure. I hope she sees it that way, because she won`t win any real prizes :hahaha:

Man, this essay is turning me into a jerk. It`s on Kipling, so it`s understandable.

INDIA get's their first individual GOLD medal.......ever!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080811/ts_ ... K7qE.s0NUE
Quote:
Indians banged drums and danced in the streets after the world's second most populous nation won their first individual Olympic title with Abhinav Bindra's gold in the men's 10m air rifle.

"Now I have lots of work ahead as he is the country's most eligible bachelor," joked his mother Babli Bindra, speaking to Reuters from the family home in Chandigarh.

Like many winners in Beijing on Monday, Bindra needed a remarkable comeback, shooting a near perfect hit at the end.

"It's the thrill of my life," he said after a win that left China's defending champion Zhu Qinan sobbing with only silver.
