The assertion of this embarrassingly pathetic article is that Obama, who works out regularly and eats healthy, is out of touch with the average fat slob American. I seriously had to check multiple times to make sure I wasn't reading the Onion.

Speaking to donors at a San Diego fund-raiser last month, Barack Obama reassured the crowd that he wouldn't give in to Republican tactics to throw his candidacy off track.

"Listen, I'm skinny but I'm tough," Sen. Obama said.

But in a nation in which 66% of the voting-age population is overweight and 32% is obese, could Sen. Obama's skinniness be a liability? Despite his visits to waffle houses, ice-cream parlors and greasy-spoon diners around the country, his slim physique just might have some Americans wondering whether he is truly like them.

The candidate has been criticized by opponents for appearing elitist or out of touch with average Americans. A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll conducted in July shows Sen. Obama still lags behind Republican John McCain among white men and suburban women who say they can't relate to his background or perceived values.

"He's too new ... and he needs to put some meat on his bones," says Diana Koenig, 42, a housewife in Corpus Christi, Texas, who says she voted for Sen. Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary.

"I won't vote for any beanpole guy," another Clinton supporter wrote last week on a Yahoo politics message board.

All right, time to reanimate Grover Cleveland and William Howard Taft! Such trailblazers.

Grover Cleveland would be a hoot. He would help reassure American voters that John McCain's 19th-century policies are the best for our country.

To be sure, the speculated religious beliefs were all false. Obama is a pretty straight-forward Christian.

The WSJ is now owned by Rupert Murdoch and we now see that he's doing to it what he did with Fox News. The right-wing's Karl Rovian strategy is to go after a candidate's strength. The problem is that in Obama's case, that means attacking him for being popular and for being healthy.

It's silly and ridiculous. But just how silly and ridiculous can they get? I'm afraid we haven't seen the worst of it yet.

Now that is the stupidest argument I have ever seen. If anything it shows people should get off their asses and work out to get thin like Obama. Besides MCcain isn't over weight either. We haven't had a fat president since Taft.

It turns out that the "reporter" pulled that quote from a "Hillary supporter" from a Yahoo message board in response to a question that she herself posted.

So this bit of ridiculousness just got more ridiculous? Man, you can't make this shit up. My day yesterday was less absurd!
