The next big war?China vs Russia
I follow the situation now quite a time and as you may know Russia (starting again under Putin) and China have heavy increased their military budgets. So recently I did read that article with a guy saying that he thinks Russia is not strengthen its military cause the west.....no its because the Chinese. He thinks that within the next 10 years China could become interested in the huge resources in Siberia to satisfy its thirst for grow. So that man from a National Private Security Institute in Moscow thinks that the next bigger war will be there between Russia and China.
Well what do you think of it.
(I guess Russia could also attack the Ukraine first if they want to join the Nato)

Re: The next big war?China vs Russia
As wars tend to be about resources, just as our invasion of Iraq was, it will not be at all surprising if China's current ravenous consumption cannot be satisfied within its own borders. That said, I'm not sure that either of them is willing or able to engage in full-scale war.

Re: The next big war?China vs Russia
Yeah, NO.
China is ruthless and greedy, it's not stupid. It would cease to exist (as would large parts of Russia) if it decided to step in Siberia, and they know that. Well, China might still have 400 million people that aren't puking and losing their hair after five years.
And nobody's attacking the Ukraine. If there was going to be a pro-Russian military invasion at any time it would have been four years ago.

A war between Russia and China would go nuclear so why would either power do something so stupid? Both countries would be wiped off the earth.

War rarely makes sense. I wouldn't go that far, all wars usually had some goal. Even Hitler had a plan. I don't see any thing that either Russia or china could achieve by going to war that wouldn't lead to a nuclear show down. Besides they haven't show any animosity towards each other in recent years.

Re: The next big war?China vs Russia
People can't deny that there's some truth or agenda going on when you have the PM of Israel threatening this, ministers of Israel doing the same, pro-israel PACs trying to get a bill passed calling for the blockade of Iran and european leaders and bush-heads constantly drumming up how dangerous Iran while increasing sanctions on them all the while Israel is the one with 200 nuclear warheads. Go figure. A war with Iran would be an obvious false flag imo that wouldn't benefit our national security not one iota in addition to causing oil and gas prices to skyrocket. It's total nonsense to think Iran would do anything Unless they were provoked into it.

Re: The next big war?China vs Russia
Israel has been threatening this for a while. I don't know if they will go through with it or not. Still, I don't think that would effect the election unless we got dragged into it. How does everybody think Iran's allies China and Russia would take such an attack? Don't deny they aren't allies they are keeping any serious sanctions from being put on Iran in the Security council and they sell them all kind of weapons and get oil from them.

I think China and Russia are sane enough to avoid this.
I'm more afraid Kim Jong Il will wake up one of these days and do something insane

I would see riots in every major city in the NE and out west. And we have no national guard to stop it.

If there was to be some sort of large scale event on US soil (connected or not connected to the Iran/Israel conflict), I think there's some sort of precedent to setting it to a later date. Given the current administration's track record of dealing with large scale events like 9/11 and the Iraq war, I think bringing the election [i]forward[i] would probably be a better idea.

Re: The next big war?China vs Russia
War with iran the next big war?
I just heard my vapid local news read off that the new record oil price was partly due to the possibility of a future conflict with Iran. Now it's finally trickled down to the local news. The drumbeat is slowly quickening to fool american into another war.
I was listening to a Ron Paul radio interview today and of the many topics he discussed he spent some time on Iran. He brought up the bill HR362 which deals with the blockade of Iran. He was saying that the democratic leadership has offered no resistance to this and that this bill has over 200 signatures already.
A paraphrased quote I scribbled down says "It's bewildering to me that members of congress I know and like are supporting this just to go along with it. They'll say they agree with some of my ideas but we have to do something about Iran because they could attack us. I can't believe they are buying into this propaganda and not stopping to think about it."
He also believes that Iran has the capability to close the strait of ormuz and is capable of sinking some of our naval vessels in the area.
He also commented that some members on the floor have commented about Iran saying "nuke'em".

I don't think we'll witness a huge-scale war in our lifetimes.
The way wars are led on this level has become different.

When Bill Clinton was president a bunch of right-wing crackpots claimed he would use Y2K as a way of declaring martial law and suspending elections. Never happened and it won't this time either.

I guess some people are naturally paranoid - others just read too much media, which make up and sell all these crazy theories to feed and entertain the crowd... This is not gonna happen.

China is probably the world's savviest country in the geopolitical arena. Being the world's oldest continuous civilization, they're much more aware of our strengths and weaknesses than we are of theirs, especially at the government level.
Russia just gets a bad rap, and Garry Kasparov won't shut up. If human rights are paramount, go invade Burma or Sudan, and quit subsidizing Saudi Arabia.

That's just political agenda. Kasparov is simply an ultra-nationalist, who lost all the people's respect that he once had as a world's chess champion. I mean, how can you team with Limonov's forbidden national-bolshevist party, which is in fact a bunch of diehard skinheads, if you are fighting for the people's rights? We have pretty much the same problems as most of other developed countries, so what's the point of overexaggerating them?

Re: The next big war?China vs Russia
Americans often romanticize liberation movements and opposition parties without consideration for what they truly stand for. In that vein, did the Confederate States of America deserve independence? We often forget what was the reaction when the political opposition in the US decided to rebel: a bloody war with 1.5 million casualties, over 5% of the population. When talking about Tibet, or Chechnya, we need to put ourselves in other people's shoes before casting judgments.
