Though the legendary singer/songwriter has been charting albums since 1966's "The Feel of Neil Diamond," the closest he ever got to the penthouse was when his soundtrack to "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" hit No. 2 in 1973. He's also claimed a pair of No. 3 sets ("Serenade" and "The Jazz Singer") and a trio of No. 4 albums ("Beautiful Noise," "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" and the 2005 set "12 Songs"). Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ It's easy to think that Diamond would have had a No. 1 album by now, considering the number of hit singles he's collected. On the Billboard Hot 100, he's scored 55 hits as an artist, with 37 of those reaching the top 40. And don't worry, as long as you don't give up, being that you were the first person to respond to my request for Digital Numbers, I will remain loyal to this thread. Also, with 'Forever' picking up airplay, do you see it re-entering the top 10? And maybe top 20 for 'Take You Down.' 'Take a Bow' looks weak as its digital sales leveled off dramatically for the rest of the week. Will probably be #1 for only a week. I'd like to see 'Love in this Club, Pt. II' picking up more digital sales, but then again I don't like how they are pushing it as the "official second single." I'm not sure 'Moving Mountains' is going to be an easy #1 either. Billboard 200 Albums were down only 4% from last year (hopefully Mother's Day was on the same week or else that would explain the minimal decrease.) With tons of mid-level albums being released every week lately, and the onslaught of Usher and Lil Wayne in the next 2 months, things could be looking up. Also, 'Bye Bye' seems to be doing fine, its a slow but steady airplay builder. Should be top 10 in all formats in about 3 weeks.
