Finally. Obama wins N.C. by 14 points and manages to close within 2 points in Indiana, and this despite a solid month of everything Hillary and the faux outraged could throw at him. He gained in whites and women and has an all but insurmountable lead in the popular vote and pledged delegates.

Folks, Obama is the nominee. Hillary will likely drop out very soon. She's out of money. She's out of time. She's out of options. The supers are going to start breaking for Obama in a big way.

It's time to start focusing on McCain. Should be a much easier target.

I'm a Hillary supporter but yeah, it is time for her to bow out. The party needs to rally behind Obama now and try to prevent Mcstupid from taking office.

Watch a flood of superdelegates switching or declaring for Obama. Former Senator George McGovern is the first this morning.

The Obama campaign is hosting a conference call within the hour starring McGovern, several governors, and numerous other public officials.

It's over, but she is still going all the way. She just loaned her campaign 6.4M.

Those $6.4 million may well have already been spent.

"Going all the way" is a pointless concept. Primary elections ain't a game of basketball, they're a game of golf. With two holes left and ten point up, you can't close the deal.

She'll likely be in debt, but she's determined for every state to vote.

Quote:
But even as Obama planned to take the day off from the campaign trail Wednesday, Clinton showed no public signs of easing her pace. The campaign added a noon Wednesday appearance in Shepherdstown, W. Va., to her schedule. On Thursday, she planned to campaign in West Virginia, South Dakota and Oregon.

She can't win, but I like that she still isn't giving up with just a month to go.

I mean that she is going to make sure everyone who wants to vote, gets to vote basically. And while a 3rd Party Run isnt going to happen, she could make a strong case for one. 50% of her backers in both IN and NC say they'd vote for McCain or stay home if she doesn't win the nomination. Yes, that number will drop when she drops, but what if she doesn't drop? She can argue it's the Democratic Party's fault that the voters in Florida and Michigan didn't get their votes counted, not their fault. And she'd have the support of the GOV's of OH and PA if she didn't drop either, with Ed Rendell as a possible VP. There is no rule saying you can't have a member of another party as your VP. A third-party campaign would have advantages if decided to do it. It's likely won't happen, but maybe some close to her (or herself) are thinking that by letting every voter in every state count will give them a boost in running a third party campaign.

What I like is her fighting spirit.

Yes, but McCain was never on the ballot come NOV. ;)

He contemplated being Kerry's running mate, but placed integrity over personal ego. It might be too much to ask of someone of Clinton's character, but I give her benefit of the doubt.

Yup the nomination is all but wrapped up. Still I don't see the harm in her running until June. If nothing else she may be able to able to get something out of the convention just not the nomination. I don't think that 50% of Clintons supporters will vote McCain, that number will come back to earth after the convention. I mean it may happen in places like PA and WV and KY and TN and AK. Unless he were to run with Clinton or Edwards but I don't see either happening.

Should be an interesting election and the map of red and blue states will definitely look different this time that is for sure

It's more likely that some of the people who claim they would vote for McCain if Hillary is not in the race would actually vote for McCain in November, even if she is. http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs/the_plan ... ffect.aspx

That is not her motivation. She did, after all, vote to exclude Florida and Michigan at the start of the primaries and has only changed her position because she needs them to win. She has also argued various reasons why all of the Obama states, and the Obama voters, don't count.

What is motivating her at this point is stubbornness and dilusion. She is completely out of touch with reality, and we've already had plenty of that in a president for the past eight years.

But she will not run third-party. She and Bill are part of the Dem establishment, which is one of the reasons she can't believe that she isn't going to be the nominee. She feels entitled to it. But at the end of the day, the weight of the Clinton machine will back Obama. Everything she said that has become part of the right-wing attacks on him she will attribute to "that's just politics" and the rest of her supporters will likely go along with it.

Do you guys think she is just staying this as long as possible as an act of sabotoge against Obama? I mean if he wins in November, that means she can't run for President until 2016. But if he loses to McCain, then she can start her run for 2012 almost immeadiately.

That's one theory. Another I've heard is that her campaign is running so far in the red that she needs to keep running so she can keep getting money from donors.

Or it could be that she just can't accept that she lost.

Which, of course, completely contradicts her plan from just a few months ago, which held that this would all be over by Super Tuesday and no states afterward even mattered.

I heard that she might actually consider going for VP.

A rumour has it that she definitely does not want to go back to the Senate, as her future there is limited and her chances of winning Senate Majority leader are pretty slim. Apparantly a lot of Democratic Senators don't like her.

A VP position is probably her best shot at making her mark and could possibly give her more leverage if she wanted to run in 2012 or 2016.

And that she's a flat out Liar. At least admit that.

Third Party campaign by her? WTH would she even consider doing such a thing as to run against her own party. That's beyond wishful thinking on your part.
