So, why do we like Bush? Warm, friendly, not too complicated...

And then there's George Bush..
But seriously folks..
Once, it was suggested the President practice his speeches to avoid Bushisms'. The idea was rejected, because it's one of his main draws to 'dumb' people.. They feel more like he is one of 'us', after hearing his goofs.. So they kept them in..

The country likes DWH's... or at least usually elect them over smart, liberal, city slickers..

The whole "more like us" thing terrifies me. I'm choosing the leader of the free world for crying out loud. My president better be embarrassingly superior, and yes, more elite, than I am.

I have to have an important operation soon.

One of the doctors I was considering is a graduate of Harvard, has won many accolades for his work, has done many similar operations, and is highly regarded among his peers.

The other one is a general practioner, graduated from a college in the carribean, and has never done any research or written in professional journals or anything. But boy, is he a nice guy, and he's good at bowling too. I could really imagine myself sitting down and having a beer with him.

So, of course, using the criteria that many people use when choosing a President, I chose the second guy.

McCain graduated near the bottom of his class, though. Keep up here, we're talking about the 2008 election!

Everyone knows that's what I think, too. But I grew up in what is traditionally perceived as the most "elitist" state of 'em all, MA. So clearly I've been well conditioned. I must have been one of the only people that thought Kerry was a fantastic candidate for president. Even the thought of Theresa made me one happy lady. I love northeasterners, I just can't seem to figure out why the rest of the country doesn't.

It's a Chicago thing. I like Midwestern folks more than Northeastern folks.

I lived in Chicago, too. Midwestern charm is nice to make-out with in the corner of some bar; its not necessarily something to base one's vote for executive competency on. I have to say, when Obama was called 'elitist' for a week awhile back, I must have been the only person in the States that thought to myself, "Awesome. Finally a 'quality' I desire to see in my selection for oval office."
