I really hope the Pens learn their lesson and keep the Sens (and hopefully other teams) at bay if they have a strong lead.

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
Those nonstop penalties just killed Boston. Still, that was Montreal's first powerplay goal this series.
The Bruins looked sharp tonight. They could've had it. Savard in particular was on fire. I don't think this'll be a sweep.

I'm glad (and pretty surprised) to see the Ducks going down in flames, even if it is to Dallas. Are the Stars for real this year? Their powerplay is killer.

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
The number of Canadiens fans at this game is pathetic (another example of how hockey is popular in Boston right now). Hopefully the Bruins can finally shut them up and be more disciplined. They should've come all the way back last night.

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
You want an example of how fucked the NHL is in America? First off, this is on only one American channel - NESN. Second, looking around the arena, how many advertisements are on the boards for something in Montreal?
1. CKAC -98.5 FM (Montreal Canadiens radio network) 2. Air Canada 3. Pizza 737.11.11 4. CBC (To be expected though since game is on in Canada)
How many ad's on the boards can be seen during a typical game without repeats? 7-10? That means one third of the boards are covered in something specifically Canadien (excluding beer). Think that would be the same if this game was on ESPN or NBC?

You know, I try to do my part for my region and hate Calgary and all, but I can't help but root for them when they play like this or back in 04. They got cahones. Plus I really really hate the Sharks and don't want another cup going to a hot, hockey-less place like California, so woohoo go Flames.

GO FLAMES!!! If they freakin' manage to beat San Jose in this series, I will be the happiest boy in the world! Right now they have home advantage, they just have to keep winning at home. Peace, Mike

I'm cheering them on despite everything I know and believe about hockey. Still can't believe they won tonight.

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
The Minnesota/Colorado series is gonna kill whoever wins it. Three games, three overtimes thus far.
Ottawa will be the first team out. BOOK IT.
What are your guys' thoughts on the Avery antics from last night? I think the guy's pretty much an asshole, but technically it wasn't illegal (until the league clarified the rule today). Still....

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
Yeah, Wild-Avalanche is crazy so far... the last series they had went overtime in the 7th game, looks like this one is matching it for awesomeness so far. Nashville won't beat Detroit because the team that beats Detroit is going to the finals... and that ain't Nashville. Well actually I'm predicting nobody beats Detroit, but anyways.

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
Philly is dominating the Caps. Ovechkin has basically been invisible. Washington's just too inexperienced.
Montreal barely beats Boston again. They're up 3-1 but it sure doesn't feel like it.
Anaheim's rebounding well tonight, they're up 4-0 already.

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
That's the game the Bruins needed most and they let it slip away. What makes this worse (or better depending on how optimistic one can be) is that the Bruins have outplayed the Canadiens in the last three games. In Game One they were just flat out beaten. But they've been in the last three games. Of course it's frustrating that they could've won these games, but it's also been nice to see that they've been in these three games. Even if they don't win the series (it'd be a miracle - win three in a row against a team that has beaten you 13 out of the last 14 times) it bodes well for their future.
There was a graphic on NESN during the game that showed the records of both teams against all other NHL teams. If the Canadiens didn't have the Bruins, they wouldn't even be in the playoffs. That just goes to show you that if the Bruins had Bergeron in each game, along with Savard and Murray (who didn't play in all of them), a couple of games here and there and there probably would've been a difference.
The young guys are developing though and we've played them as best as we could, but we just can't put the puck in the net. Just imagine if we had Bergeron, or Chuck Kobasew. If we stay healthy next year, we're gonna be good.

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
Brutal loss for the Flames tonight. Giving up two goals in the last five minutes is bad enough, but one with ten seconds left? And only ten shots on net? That's just not trying. Jmart007 wrote: If the Canadiens didn't have the Bruins, they wouldn't even be in the playoffs. Uh, yeah, because they'd have played eight fewer games?
