Thanks. :D

Not all 16 are set though. Caps/Canes still have to be decided. If the Caps win they're in and if the Panthers come up with another upset, the Canes sneak back in. The Canes don't control their destiny anymore though since they have no games left.

To go back to the Bruins for a sec though, there's one thing I don't get. NESN (Bruins network) said repeatedly that they'll either face the Penguins or Canadiens. They're in 6th right now and wouldn't face either if the playoffs began tomorrow. If they win tomorrow and get to 96 points (passing Ottawa), don't they remain in 6th?

And just one more thing. It's kind of unfair to do at this point, but I wonder where this Bruins team would be if Patrice Bergeron wasn't knocked out for the season only 10 games in. I mean, this is a team most people picked to finish 13-15th in the East. They could end up only 6-8 points back of the 1 and 2 seeds, one of which is Montreal who beat the Bruins every single time this year. I don't think he would've made an unbelieveable difference, but considering how close the conference was this year, it's not out of the question that they could've fought for the divsion and a 1 or 2 seed. It's a shame. It makes me even more excited for next year though.

NESN is wrong. :D As far as I know Boston can pretty much end up ANYWHERE

Win against Buffalo, NY loss - 5th seed, open on the road against New Jersey
Win against Buffalo, NY win - 6th seed, open on road against Washington or Carolina
Lose against Buffalo, Philly loss - 7th seed, open on road against Montreal or Pittsburgh
Lose against Buffalo, Philly win - 8th seed, open on road against Montreal or Pittsburgh

I'm too lazy to figure what overtime losses would do

Right now only 2 playoff matchups are set, 1 Detroit vs 8 Nashville and 4 Anaheim vs 5 Dallas, in the West that is.

Okay.......

And I don't blame you for not trying to figure out the overtime losses. :funny:

Just as long as the Bruins don't face Montreal and to a lesser extent New Jersey (Because of Brodeur) I'll be happy. I'm happy regardless though since they made it when nobody expected them too, especially with the injuries they had this year. Preferably though, I'd like to face Carolina, so go Panthers!

I can't see Washington losing to Florida today. They've been playing too well, the Panthers will be tired, and Ovechkin won't let it happen. So yay for Carolina missing!

Aside from the Capitals' big game tonight, it's a big game for the Canadiens tonight too. If they win, they'll be in the two-way race for the Eastern Conference. If they lose, the Penguins take their first conference win since the 1992-1993 season, which was their only conference win in history during the regular season (according to Wiki, they now have six division wins during the season).

Here's hoping!

Caps worked hard. I hope they didn't wear themselves out before the playoffs to get there.

Habs won, so it's up to the Pens tomorrow to win. Do or die for the conference win.

So no matter what happens tomorrow, the Bruins get to play the Canadiens.

They win two games tops. :disgust:

Detroit beat Chicago today, so Edmonton officially finished in 9th place. They're tied with Vancouver and Chicago, but they have more wins, so they are ranked ahead of them. Considering how poorly most (including myself) expected them to do this season, finishing one spot out of the playoffs is great news.

Four of the series are set so far, the other four depend on the Colorado/Minnesota and Pittsburgh/Philly games today. Detroit/Nashville, Anaheim/Dallas, Montreal/Boston and New Jersey/NY Rangers are all set. Pittsburgh and Washington can play either Ottawa or Philly, and San Jose and Minnesota can play either Calgary or Colorado.

Tonight I'll set up my world-renowned playoff game.

Playoff matchups set:

WEST
1 Detroit vs. 8 Nashville
2 San Jose vs. 7 Calgary
3 Minnesota vs. 6 Colorado
4 Anaheim vs. 5 Dallas

EAST
1 Montreal vs. 8 Boston
2 Pittsburgh vs. 7 Ottawa
3 Washington vs. 6 Philadelphia
4 New Jersey vs. 5 NY Rangers

As I said, I'll set up my game tonight so we can all compete against each other to see who can pick 'em the best. Do you know if our Fantasy Pool goes into the playoffs, Shack?

Dunno, I'll see tomorrow

Speaking of, here are the results as of right now (1 game left on the schedule, but anyways)

1. Munky Wings 2496.20 -3.2000000000003 3 -
2. Shack the Ripper 2183.10 5 4 -
3. Angry Beavers 2178.40 41.5 5 -
4. trix are for kids 2120.30 1 1 -
5. jmart007 1961.30 11.1 2 -

Mike can still catch me. Chip pwned, even with the dumb Neidermayer pick. Next year I don't know if I'll bring it back, maybe I'll go with the matchup style that the NBA fantasy league did, for this one eventually I think we all lost track.

I sure hope Pens vs. Sens II doesn't turn out the same way as last year.

Post Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
You know what's great about the Bruins/Canadiens series for me? I have absolutely no worries going into this thing. For the first time in quite sometime, the Bruins have absolutely nothing to lose. They have not beaten the Canadiens once this year. No one is expecting them to win. They might not feel this way, but they should be feeling absolutely no pressure right now. They just have to go out and play their game. And with the return of Marc Savard and a possible return of Patrice Bergeron (their best player), who knows?

However, they do need to add one thing in order to even come close to beating the Habs - they have to get pissed off. The Canadiens have beaten you (them) eight times, and eleven in a row. GET ANGRY! That's one area where the Canadiens struggle. They don't get angry. Make them react. Throw them off their game a little bit. Make them get penalties. Make them get into fights. Piss them off.

That's the only chance they have. That and they have to somehow get their offense going.

As someone who sat down and watched the Pens get pounded last year against the Sens, I was very happy to see a 4-0 win for the Pens in Game 1. I have an awful feeling they'll mess it up, but it was nice to see them hold their own in a playoff game.

Wow, Ducks were massacred last night. I guess it's foreseeable how Dallas would be a bad matchup for them... against Ottawa or other top-heavy teams you could put the Pahlsson checking line and Pronger/Neidermayer on their big line every time, and they'd be pretty much screwed, as they were. Dallas on the other hand has Ribiero, Richards, and Modano on 3 different lines. They might have to split Pronger and Neidermayer up to deal with it.

Considering the Pens had a 3-0 lead in the second period, I think it's bad that Ottawa actually tied the game. They really can't let that happen again. They got overconfident and the Sens capitalized on what could've been another shutout. Luckily, they got themselves two goals in the last 65 seconds (including an empty-netter), but I hope I don't see the same thing happen on Monday. It could be their downfall, whether against Ottawa or later on in the playoffs if they're lucky enough to advance.
