What the hell was wrong with picking Al Gore? He got the most votes. My dreamteam would be a Gore-Obama ticket with Barack running in 2016.

Kerry was an obviously poor candidate from the start though. Obamas the most electable we've had since Bill.

It's the Clinton haters that have started all this really. It's one thing to dislike a candidate's policies and positions. It's another to hate someone on name alone.

I don't know if I would vote for Obama in the general election. I would have to see how he fairs against McCain in debates. I would also have to really hate McCain which so far hasn't happened. He's appears to be a nice guy. But the thought of another Republican in the White House is scary. It'll be a tough decision. If Hillary is the nominee, then it's a no brainer.

Whats so bad about Obama???

Yeah, it's our fault for picking the candidate who actually won the popular vote in 2000.

While that is certainly true, I'm sure that if we had nominated someone a little better -- of if Gore had been more himself instead of what his advisers and pollsters told him to be like -- there would have been no contest and Bush would have lost by a large margin.

As you've all said IN THE PAST MONTH, VOTES DO NOT WIN ELECTIONS!!!

Delegates do.

So don't play stupid.

Well Kerry won because there wasn't really an alternative. Dean exploded and Edwards was just too much of an unknown. The rest of the candidates would have done horrible against Bush.

I think we're all sorry about the hoopla over Dean and the scream, to late to take it all back now.

I've just YouTubed this Howard Dean scream for the first time. The guy seems massively charismatic, excited, likeable... an infinitely better choice for candidacy than John Kerry was.

What was the hoopla about exactly?

It's a mystery. The Republican attack machine, along with Fox News (is there a difference?) really tore into him.

Admittedly, he had already been on the downturn, and had lost Iowa, so he may have collapsed anyway. I supported him, though.

I think a lot of Democrats started thinking that Kerry had the best chance to win. He had experience and was smart. The problem was he ran a horrible campaign. He never stood up to the Swift Boat people and he made horrible gaffes on the stump speeches. The only place he caught up were the Debates where he won them but that was too late really.
