$109 million is amazing considering how much money Barack has made in the same time span. Will this hurt her chances seeing as how it will just look like another insanely rich person out of touch with real Americans?

That doesn't bother me.

I think it's more important how you grew up rather than whether you made a success of yourself.

I tend to find that people who earned their money generally tend to be a bit more sympathetic to those who are poor and who struggled like they once did than those who are born into it.

Bill and Hillary have other problems with ego, but I don't think it's related to money.

The American dream is merely a red herring used to distract the general populace.

Distract them from what, Karl?

From the fact that some people have trouble achieving it. Reagan was right; people that work hard should be able to achieve the American Dream. The "working poor" that work two jobs barely to make ends meet have no resources to take classes or improve themselves. Government does have a role in offering more retraining services and education credits for those that earnestly deserve them.

I'm not sure why it should be surprising that they're rich. They're both incredibly famous and incredibly connected. I think the bulk of it is from speaking fees. And like Groucho says, they were not born rich like Bush. Bill's about as self-made as it gets.

The opening skit on this week's SNL addressed this - - not the funniest skit, but appropriately mocked those who are surprised at this fact...

I'm actually glad for them. I like Bill, and I'm happy to see them doing well financially. Although Hillary's campaign bid might be a drain on the bank if they are not careful.
