 Re: March Madness 2008
It wasn't supposed to be my own analysis.
But, judging from past experience, in THIS thread, people skip over division to division discussion and instead focus on the overall final four or whatever. That isn't what I wanted.
You frustrate me.

 Re: March Madness 2008
Sorry torri, I don't mean to frustrate you, I just think that all discussion regarding the tourney should be in one place, and I think that one place should be here. I don't want to have multiple threads of discussion on the subject, rather I want two: 1 for the general tourney talk, 1 for the WoKJ bracket challenge.
I apologize that we disagree, but no worries, I still look forward to the rest of your bracket analysis and I think people will be happy to discuss detailed matchups in this thread, not just final 4.

 Re: March Madness 2008
Back on track:
I'm crafting my inevitably perfect bracket, and some matchups are giving me a headache, I'll start with the Big East matchups. Here they are:
Some big east matchups: - ND vs GM - Clem vs Vill - WVU vs Arz - Marq vs Kent - Conn vs SD
I think Lou, GT and Pitt all win easily. I think Conn and ND should win their matchups, and while I think you COULD pick against them, I won't be doing so.
That leaves the big east 5-0 so far with 3 to play. History says that the big east is losing at least 2 of their 8 games, with 3 being a more likely number. So where are these losses coming from?
Clemson is a safe pick over Villanova, but Nova is a strong tourney team, mostly because the tourney tends to favor guard play, which they have in spades. The matchup, believe it or not, really plays to Villanova's style, and part of me likes them in this game. Nova can score, has gone past the century mark twice this year, and has a tough time in the slow, defensive big east. Clemson could be in for a nasty surprise.
What about WVU? Arizona hasn't impressed me, I think the Pac-10 is over-rated when it comes to the middle of the pac, and they are slumping at the wrong time. Add to that how nasty Alexander has been playing, and I have a hard time seeing WVU losing.
Is Kentucky going to upset Marquette? They have been hot, and I could see it. But I prefer Marquette's guards, and Kentucky folds under the slightest pressure, and I think Marquette's agressive team defense will overwhelm the confused cats.
So again, where are these losses going to come from. I'm a big east fan, but I'm not crazy, something has to give. Anyone have any thoughts on these games?

Torri. Don't be a prick.
Nobody makes divisional playoffs discussion threads for the NFL. It's all in one thread.
Nobody wants to talk about Cornell. They suck.

 Re: March Madness 2008
Clemson should beat Nova. The Tigers are hot right now and I don't think Nova can stop their inside game. Clemson is built like Georgetown and we saw how much trouble Nova had with them. Clemson's only weakness is foul shooting and that would only be an impact if the game is close. As for another loss or two from the Big East I couldn't say.

 Re: March Madness 2008
Go Cornell! We definitely win the "weirdest looking dude" award. Look for our 7-footer, Jeff Foote (haha). (I'm pretty much prepared for a loss, but will still be watching...online fuck you, CBS). I sent 3 brackets into the ESPN, 1 into Yahoo. 2 of the ones in ESPN are just copies of ones I manually did for other pools. I just wanted a place to keep track of my score.

Is there a texting source out there? I'm going to be away until the Cornell-Stanford game. Kinda wish I had an iPhone right about now...

I'm stuck with PSU/Kansas for the morning game. Thank God for March Madness on Demand!

Georgia continues to play well. At least I don't have Xavier advance past Sweet 16.

I knew Xavier wasn't as good as a three seed, but I'm really surprised to see Georgia continue this hot run. I figured they'd be totally out of gas. Kansas looks absolutely incredible. Dominate inside game, deadly outside game. Portland State is not as bad as Kansas is making them look. The Michigan State/Temple game is pissing me off. I picked Temple. Can't believe how ice-cold they've been.

 Re: March Madness 2008
Yeah, Kansas is just so talented.
I picked Temple in one bracket and Michigan State in another to balance out since I don't see either of them give Pitts much trouble.

 Re: March Madness 2008
I've been watching the Temple game on and off using the March Madness on Demand stream, and I've counted four Temple air-balls so far. At least my local CBS station has mercifully switched me to the Xavier/Georgia game.

 Re: March Madness 2008
As predicted, Georgia flames out in the second half. Too tired.
Very meh games so far today. Let's hope the afternoon block picks it up.

Nope! Blowouts across the board this afternoon, save the Kentucky/Marquette game.

 Re: March Madness 2008
Well, the Marquette/Kentucky game ended up being the best game of the day so far. Pretty wild final minute.
So far, this has been a pretty bad tournament. Seven games in, and only two of them have been competitive.

 Re: March Madness 2008
Very reminiscent of last year; few close games and all higher seeds advance.

Oh, and... Kent State - 10 point first half, 48 point second half. You figure it out.

Oh you guys are a bunch of whining ninnies!
The tourney's been great so far. Xavier getting pounded to come back and win, solid Marquette game, and more fun to come. Not every game needs to be a buzzer beater special for me to love this holiday.

I'm guessing most people are like me and aren't getting to see any of the Stanford/Cornell game. Instead, I'm getting Oprah!

Louis Dale (the short guy) is really cool. His major has the best acronym ever: PAM. It is going to be a struggle to watch this. TBH, asides from hockey, no one goes to Cornell sporting events anywayssss.
