 March Madness 2008
Are there no college Basketball fans here? March is the biggest time for College Basketball and one of the best months in sports to me. I see the Final Four as the third biggest sporting event in the country. So who does everybody think will win the whole thing? Right now I am not sure I think it is going to be surprise team like Xavier or Butler right now.

 Re: March Madness 2008
I am going on a limb and picking Xavier to make it to the final four. I just have a feeling about them this year. The rest I will wait till I see the brackets. It is impossible to tell until they come out.

I enjoy college basketball in general but love March Madness. Still have hope that my Minnesota Gophers will make it into the field of 65.

We should set up a pool or something.
Go Badgers (pointless, the Big Ten sucks and the Badgers always choke).

Go Badgers (pointless, the Big Ten sucks and the Badgers always choke). We normally have groups on Yahoo! on ESPN. I AM SO FUCKING READY. For me, March Madness begins this Wednesday with the Big East tournament morning games. Nothing says "March" like mediocre east coast teams playing in a half-full Madison Square Garden at 9 AM PST. Also, the Ducks MUST make the field of 65. After completing the season sweep of Arizona last night, there is no way they get in before us. If the Pac-10 gets six in (which it should), we're good. Five in and it'll be dicey.

 Re: March Madness 2008
Mediocre?
The big east is full of teams that are real good. They have 9 teams with realistic shots, even though only 8 are going to make it. That kind of depth is unreal.
Georgetown and Louisville are both upper-echelon teams. Not quite #1 overall teams, but teams that have very legit chances at the final 4. Hell, even Notre Dame and UConn could sneak in if they go on a run. Heck, might as well say ditto for WVA, Syracuse, Pitt and Marquette.
That's just it, they might not knock your socks off, but every one of those teams are very capable of going on a run deep into the tourney. People talk about the Pac 10 or ACC being the strongest conference, bull, it's the big east. There is no conference top to bottom near as good.

I was referring to the Quarter Final games exclusively, where almost always the teams are barely above mediocre. The Big East is a great conference in geneal.

There's just something about a great sports announcer that can stir up all kinds of emotions, no matter WHO'S playing.

 Re: March Madness 2008
Butler got screwed in getting a 7th seed, but I think they still can go to the final Four. They are a very dangerous team.

 Re: March Madness 2008
Notre Dame got the toughest 1st round matchup for a high seed.
And ASU got SCREWED.
Fucking A!

 Let's discuss the bracket!
1. I always pick UCLA. 2. Outside of UCLA (which, this year, is a wise choice! Duke is the only obstacle in their road to the final four), I have no idea what's going on. GO CORNELL!That could be an upset, actually; Cornell's not that good (we're a #14 seed because we were undefeated against the other Ivies...but, what is Brown U. when it comes to basketball, anyways?), but Stanford never goes far in the NCAA. Let's start with the East. I think Tenn. is strong, and could go final four. UNC is sorta meh this year - they had a relatively easy schedule ( http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/teams/nav ... QkLDid07YF) yet managed to give up leads to sub-par teams like Virginia. If I had to call a first round upset, I'd go with St. Joe's over Oklahoma. They beat Xavier twice. What's Oklahoma got?

 Re: March Madness 2008
I don't want to discuss until it starts, only because I don't want to let you all pick my brain. I'm competitive, and I want to repeat as champ. Edit: I mean I personally didn't want to spill MY guts and thoughts because I didn't want people stealing my picks. I could care less if you all discuss till you hearts delight.

 Re: March Madness 2008
Dude...wtf?
My post has no context in this thread. I wanted to organize a discussion previewing each bracket; I didn't want to mix it in with the general March Madness talk. Restore it; it doesn't matter if you are competitive or not - you do not have to read it.

 Re: March Madness 2008
This is the general March Madness thread, and as you can see, this is where people are discussing the bracket. Why can't you simply have your analysis in here? Should I allow everyone to make a specific thread on their analysis?
The simple answer is: no one person is so special that they deserve there own analysis thread, yours can exist just fine in here with everyone else.
