Down to less than 1,000.

Now, does she maintain this surge for the rest of the night?

It's really about about appearances tonight, which in the world of politics and news cycles, is all that matters. Taking 2 or 3 for Hill is big.

Whatever train Obama was on, it could very well have derailed metaphorically tonight.

Em, the media's gonna concentrate on the one state Obama won in that case

Exciting, isn't it? :)

Travis county - 9% reporting, Harris - 1%, and Dallas - 13%; Obama needs to maintain his big margin there as more votes are counted.

Is anyone looking at the numbers? OMFG, the turnout among Texas democrats is 2-3 times that of the republicans. For obvious reasons, but still, wow... :noway:

Some of the border counties are insanely slanted in favour of Clinton. Yowsers. Obama really needs those three big cities...

But also, I mean, he's getting them, and they have more than half of the population. So I still think he'll pull ahead in the end.

There's no man who would be taken seriously as a contender the way she has been after losing 11 straight (12 after Vermont), so I disagree with the idea that she suffers from a media gender bias.

Howard Fineman, newsweek reporter, said a top Clinton campaign guy told him tonight that it's possible she'll want to go on but that a lot of the people who work for her will be ready to quit.

I think they're a little overly cautious, but what they're looking at is counties like Hamilton, where Cincinnati is located; there only 2% is counted, and Obama is leading by 4,400 votes, which means he could gain more than 100,000 vote there alone if all votes in the county are counted.

The county Cleveland is in also only reported 2% of the votes, although Clinton is currently leading by 3% so far; I think they're waiting to see if it breaks enough toward Obama to make a difference.

EDIT: ok, now it's a moot point. :)

Yeah, I'm looking at those 3 cities/counties, and he's going to get major vote surges there. Major. I just can't see Clinton keeping the lead in Texas with all the votes Obama will get from those areas once more precincts come in. So, while the lead is exciting for me right now, Obama is merely going to jump right back up.

Peace,
Mike

The Dallas/Houston areas have around 6m people each, so more than half of Texas' population. And only a tiny fraction of the votes are in there yet. I mean Harris County alone could push him ahead by hundreds of thousands, all other things being equal.

I'm telling you, the Democratic party is going to explode when this goes to a brokered convention and the super-delegates push it to Clinton. Explode!

This sucks I can't stand Hillary. I will just have to vote for Nader in November. Hillary will get her butt kicked by McCain anyway.

The Democratic party splits, McCain dies of a heartattack, and in a state of utter confusion, laws are passed allowing George W. Bush to serve a third term

Many of the smaller counties which Clinton carries overhwhelmingly have already finished their counting, so I think it's only upwards from hereon for Obama.

Polls aside, no one has proven that McCain is a lock against Hillary. Sounds more like pro-Obama disinformation than anything.

McCain will eat her alive, plus the Republicans will pull some Clinton skeleton out.I am sure Karl Rove has something up his sleeve. I just know how the Republicans play I have watched the last 8 years now. Plus Hillary will lose people like me who won't vote for her and I am a very liberal person so what does that say. Also I am not a true Obama supporter he was my second choice after Edwards. I just can't stand Hillary at all, never could.
