 Re: Heading to Chesapeake Tuesday
Hah, I'm watching the CNN caucus coverage live, and the correspondent at one point said "[Governor Gregoire] is with Obama, that's a problem... Am I live? I'm miked!" No biggie, just funny.

Was Huckabee expected to win Kansas by that much? Or is it surprising?

Re: Saturday Primary and Chesapeake Tuesday
I'm having a good feeling about the Washington caucus, based on anecdotal reports. At least in Seattle, Obama seems to be kicking hinny.

Really, I expected Huckabee to win KS. Were there any polls? Evangelicals dominate the Republican Party in KS.

Re: Saturday Primary and Chesapeake Tuesday
Unlike the democratic mess, if a republican drops out, and releases his delegates, they get re-distributed by who would have won the place he got the delegates. That's how I understood it to be anyways.

Obama has completely creamed Clinton in Washington. He leads 67 to 32 with 30% reporting.

NBC projected Obama to win Nebraska, in a blowout.

Continuing other posts...
OBAMA blew away Hillary today. I'm pleasantly happy about this and it's good to know those voters had the sense to say "out with the old and in with the new" so to speak. This is a great start to an Obama week and with Tuesday's sure to be wins I'm confident Obama will be running away the nomination with a tidal wave of "momentum"!

I hope the massive Obama numbers will make those superdelegates think twice about their support for Hillary.

Re: Saturday Primary and Chesapeake Tuesday
Ironic that Obama has blown away two lily-white states today and faces a close contest in Louisiana. Exit polls show Louisiana white voters as quite racist, but that's another matter.

Re: Saturday Primary and Chesapeake Tuesday
Update: Louisiana will to go Obama. He leads with 13% with 22% of precincts reportings and Orleans Parish still to come.
Update 2: Huckabee sweeps all three states! This man that "majored in miracles" sure pulled off a miracle.
Update 3: Louisiana lead opens up wide, and will end up above 20%. All parishes are done reporting except for DeSoto (2%, Shreveport), East Baton Rouge (59%, Baton Rouge), and Orleans (63%, New Orleans), all three of which are heavily Obama territory.
Update 4: Huckabee is losing his lead in Washington and Louisiana. Big uh-oh for him. He needs a clean sweep to even dream of a miracle.

Well if Obama is sweeping states, it's doubtful Clinton will be able to win now. So, I should accept the fact that Obama will win.
And way to go on his part - strong work. Now Dems, let's topple McCain!
Peace, Mike

Peace, Mike Clinton has an uphill battle, but she is contesting the big states like Ohio and Texas. If she wins those then it is a toss-up. It would be hard to choose between the two with Clinton winning the major states, NY, CA, Florida, Michigan, Mass, NJ, Ohio, and Texas. With Obama's only major wins being Illinois and GA. Still aways to go, but Clinton needs to change the dynamics a bit to win. If she doesn't win Ohio and Texas, then she probably won't get the nomination, due to momentum being lost, even if Obama can't get to the magic number to clinch the nomination. There are still big states like NC and PA after Texas and Ohio. The problem is the proportional representation, it is much more complex than the Republicans who have many winner take all states which help force the nomination. The primaries are weird, candidates pick and choose which states they are strong and which they aren't. That way a regional candidate like Huckabee can beat McCain in some states and not really compete with him in others.

Peace, Mike Momentum is on Obama's side, but I still think it's too early - and a little risky - to say that he has this in the bag. He could underperform at these Chesapeake primaries. Hillary supporters might be energized after the Obamarama. Even if things do go his way in Virginia, etc., Hillary might still pull big numbers in Texas and Ohio and split the vote, which would still put them at a virtual tie (for the thousandth time), with Obama only slightly ahead. And then we have these superdelegates to worry about. If Obama wins Texas and Ohio (or I guess even one of the two would do), then I think we can start talking in "inevitable" terms. But until then, I don't think anything's settled. This is still so much fun, though. As much as I don't want to see this go to a brokered convention, I can't help but revel in the escalating drama unfolding day by day.

Maine caucuses today, by the way (weird Sunday caucuses). I don't remember actually seeing any polls myself, but I think Hillary's supposed to do well there.

I'm expecting a Clinton win as well. The demographics there look good for her.

Of the voters that stated race was a important factor, blacks went 90% Obama while whites went 70+ for Clinton. It's by far the greatest dichotomy of any contests so far, though Alabama came close.
