Post Re: 2007 NFL Discussion
It truly was the best Superbowl to watch. Most other years had a clear winner after the 3rd quarter of so, but this year came down to the last 30 seconds. Personally, i hate the Patriots and now have a very strong dis-liking of the Giants because that was the PACKERS game to win... So good game, but i would have and do hate the outcome no matter what...

yeah and where's those other two boston fans. Jmart & Excel.

what's up now, bitches. :P

kiss your 19-0 dream goodbye.

bet it hurts more that it was done by a Manning. :funny:

It's hilarious how you talk shit all season. And we watch EVERY single one of your "teams" go down in flames. And you trash the Patriots EVERY week. And now FINALLY you're acting as if the Giants are "your" team. When clearly you're just an asshole.

i talk shit about the Pats all season and now that your team has finally lost i'm an asshole for doing it. :hahaha: you're a sore loser, Munk and i'll be happy to remind u all year long.

any team that beats the Pats is by default my team for that game. ;)

Congrats to the NYG for becoming the worst team to win a SB. And congrats to the Pats for overtaking the Mavs as having the biggest meltdown of this decade.

Mavs never held that torch. The Yankees and their collapse topped them for sure. It's tight between them and the Pats for who has it now... definitley tight. I think I give the edge to the Pats, for the Yanks it was just another championship, for the Pats it was history and they fucked it up. They were hitting the black ball in the pool championships of pool championships, and knocked the white in for a scratch.

Well, I combine Mavs meltdown in the NBA finals and then in the 1st round last year as one big giantic meltdown. Combined, that beats the Yanks for me. But I'm bias.

Yeah, come to think of it I actually consider the finals the year before a bigger meltdown than last year's upset... The media didn't make as big a hoopola of it, but to be up like 10 with a couple minutes left with the chance to secure things and probably sweep, and fuck up the next 4 games, that's big. And in addition, Dallas hasn't won a championship yet and probably won't in the Dirk era now... If it was a NY or Boston team or something doing that, it'd be a legendary collapse.

No.

The quest for 19-0 continues in September.

This goes up with Jets beating Colts in SB3 as the biggest upset in SB history.
I say it beats that since the Pats went into it undefeated and with a high powered offense.

Chip, you don't have a lot of room to talk about "bad" fans. You're about the biggest front-runner I've ever seen. Michigan? New England? Lemme guess, your favorite baseball team is the Sox or the Yanks, and your favorite basketball team is the Spurs or Suns.

With that said, I think Wes Welker is my least favorite NFL player of all time. The guy acts like a fucking rabid douche bag on the field. I'll never forget that ass-hat display he put on in the Indy game this year when caught the clinching first down pass. Jumped up, spiked the ball, and screamed "YOU FUCKING SUCK" to the DB covering him. I think it's funny when players miraculously grow balls when they join a winning team. Coupled with the sickening Bill Belichick and the "I'm too cool to look like I'm enjoying myself in anyway" Tom Brady, the reason this team was so hated is not hard to see.

The Giants fucking beat the Patriots, fair and square. Out-played them and out-coached them, and I couldn't be happier.

Are the Suns a team to brag about? :funny:

Chip's partially right about one thing. Even though I don't think the Patriots will be looking at an undefeated season again, they'll be back in the Super Bowl next year. The Colts and the Jaguars will give them a run for their money for sure, but pick another team in the AFC that could beat them. They have the seventh pick in the draft, they'll go after free agents (they have a lot of money) on the defensive side of the football, and they'll try to get younger. If they get younger, this team has another five to seven years of being the favorites.

They've been the most exciting/entertaining team in the NBA since Nash arrived, and they've been very successful. They are ideal candidates for front-runner fans the world 'round.

Give him some slack, the Suns are the only good team in Arizona!

Perennial western conference final losers.

They might be entertaining, but they won't be winning anything significant anytime soon.

I always thought it was fishy that Chip lived in Arizona and was a fan of teams from Michigan and New England.

Depends on whether or not Moss stays. I think he will, he's still looking for that ring. But the Jaguars will be really tough for sure, and I predict Tennessee can be dangerous if Vince Young can put together an offensive game...

I'm not sure if they'll win though. Even with his 3 rings, I feel like the last two years Brady has shown "issues"... maybe the pressure of the 4 superbowl club has gotten to him a bit, because he should've won both times.

I think it should be noted that this has a great fourth quarter.

But honestly....the first three quarters of this were boring. Sloppy offense for three quarters, and no big plays that were special. All that happend was pressure on Brady by NYG and Giants offense just looking okay.

I don't even think this was the best SB of the decade. Rams-Titans beat it. That had a better mix of good offense/defense. Not to mention, the last play of that game is pretty much the greatest play not just in SB history, but football history. To me, it epitomizes what football is all about: A game of inches. Hell, I even think Pats-Rams was probably a better SB. Or even Panthers-Pats.

People I think are overrating this game because of the pursuit of perfection. It's legacy may be big, but the game itself wasn't that great until the last ten minutes. But people are going to call this one of the greatest ever despite this.

Well, the first three quarters were at least tight... For me though the 4th quarter just elevated it so high that along with the pursuit of perfection and the underdog amazing story angle, it has to rank as the best I've seen (I wasn't really around for Rams-Titans).

Removing the game from its context to judge it is a preposterous thing to do. Of course it was made all the better because of what was at stake, and I would argue that very thing made the entire game thrilling, edge-of-your-seat entertainment. Every time the Giant pass-rush ripped through the line and planted Brady, I was thrilled. Every time Belichick's ridonkulous ego got the best of him, I was hooked. Every single call felt important, every play felt potentially game-breaking. You knew in the back of your mind if the Pats got up 14-3 at any point in that game, it was probably over. And that made every possession life and death throughout the entire second and third quarter. The back-and-forth of the fourth quarter only sealed the deal, and it was all capped with stunning plays. I think the fact that you could see the desperation in the Giants defense, and you could literally see them exhausting in front of you made kind of made things transcend to a higher level.

I don't think whether Moss stays or not is the deciding point. Don't get me wrong, he was obviously a big addition to the team this year and it would be absolutely great if he came back. But I think without him, they would've run the offense slightly different with the focus being on Welker, and I still think they would've ultimately have got to this point.

If they improve the offensive line, and just make minor tweaks here and there, he'll get it. They need to make the line dominant during the offseason, just like they did with the wide recievers.

But yeah, it depends on how much the Jaguars, Colts and teams like the Titans improve during the offseason. It's obviously too hard to tell at this point, but right now I don't think you could expect anything less than an appearance in SB 43.
