xiayun wrote: Doesn't load for me either. I'm guessing Obama's wife? Michelle Obama? The respected lawyer? What's wrong with her? Or are we talking about John McCain's 2nd trophy wife? As an aside, have you noticed the big difference between the main Democratic and Republican candidates over spouses? All of the top Democrats (Obama, Clinton, Edwards*) are married to their first spouses, who are all lawyers. They married professional educated people. Theirs are obviously marriages of equals. The Republicans have trophy wives and "housewives" (not that there is anything wrong with that; I'm just pointing out the difference). McCain married his much younger trophy wife who he met while still married to his first wife. Thompson's trophy wife is his "favorite possession" according to him (imagine if one of the Democrats called their spouse a "possession.") Guiliani was on his 3rd wife. Just thought it was interesting. * yes, I know he dropped out. Stay with me here for the sake of the example, because I'm going to do the same for Republicans

Mrs. McCain is mildly scary. I would not enjoy having to look at her constantly.

She's definitely not first wife material. She looks like a Stepford hooker. I'm fully expecting your girlfriend to beat the crap out of you if she sees this thread loyal.

Re: You Really Want HER In The White House?
I agree she isn't someone I'd want as first lady, just like the thought of Kerry's wife in that role in 2004 made me cringe. This will be an unpopular viewpoint on this forum but in my lifetime, Laura Bush has been the classiest presidential spouse.

The only logical explanation is that she's some sort of V lizard woman underneath. There are lots of women who will marry millionaires even though they have nothing in common.

Re: You Really Want HER In The White House?
Well, she may be classy, but she's not that bright. Probably has nearly as many Bushisms as Bush.

She's a former teacher and, like our Dolce, a former librarian. On a cultural level (art, books etc) I'd say she's likely smarter than Hillary. She's responsible for pushing Bush to increase the funding for the national endowment of the arts. She was also raised as a Democrat, but of course when George got into politics she had to start keeping her opinions more private.

In any case, you might be right about Laura's mouse-eating ways, it's he only explanation for her choice of husband.

I'm used to seeing a long name in red font and it's Loyal.
