 Alexander Prediction Thread
Alexander
Release Date: November 24, 2004
Studio: Warner Bros. Pictures
Director: Oliver Stone
Screenwriter: Oliver Stone
Starring: Colin Farrell, Angelina Jolie, Anthony Hopkins, Val Kilmer, Jared Leto, Rosario Dawson, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Rory McCann, Elliot Cowan, Joseph Morgan
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama
MPAA Rating: R (for violence and some sexuality/nudity)
Official Website: Alexanderthemovie.com
Plot Summary: Oliver Stone's "Alexander" is based on the true story of one of history’s most luminous and influential leaders, Alexander the Great (Farrell) -– a man who had conquered 90% of the known world by the age of 27. Alexander led his virtually invincible Greek and Macedonian armies through 22,000 miles of sieges and conquests in just eight years, and by the time of his death at the age of 32 had forged an empire unlike any the world had ever seen. The film chronicles Alexander's path to becoming a living legend, from a youth fueled by dreams of myth, glory and adventure to his lonely death as a ruler of a vast Empire. Alexander is the incredible story of a life that united the Known World and proved, if nothing else, fortune favors the bold.
I think this movie looks excellent. I think it'll do very well with that release date.
Opening: $30.0
Total: $140.0

This has a great cast, but epic war movies aren't doing that well right now. This will not beat Troy, though, because Troy had great marketing and lots of hype.
Opening: $27.5
Total: $82.0
Bad legs for the holiday season.

Alexander, this is not like last year with The Last Samurai, Master and Commander and Return of the King all going for the Epic of the Season Movie. Alexander is the only epic, and is targeted at the male audience and +plus has an allstar cast which cannot hurt for other demographics besides the male 18-35 one.
Opening- 31 mil
Total- 110 mil
Nothing to set the World on Fire, but will make Farrell at bankable star and be Stone's 2nd 100 mill grosser and *fingers crossed* 3rd Best Director Oscar.

With only Christmas With the Kranks to worry about I say it comes in second to that movie. I think it will get klobbered by Kranks and with Aviator and Lemminy Sknikket and Oceans 12 coming out soon after.....?
Prediction: 30 mil from Wensday and the weekend total-
Overall-70 mil, with world wide maybe 100 mil.
Great cast, great scope, but just won't be able to compete with the holiday fair which will have a wider audience appeal.

Ok, this is, indeed, the worst prediction ever. (no offense, though)
King Arthur could make almost $200 million worldwide. Troy could get almost $500 million worldwide. There is no way for Alexander to make less than $250 million worldwide. People in Europe love historical epics.

 Re: Alexander Prediction Thread
I see no reason for this to open higher than Master and Commander.

I see some people seem to think the same way I do. Based on the latest reviews I think State side it will struggle to make it to 100 mil if that. World wide perhaps better. I still say 70 mil state state side.

I don't see it breaking 30M for the opening weekend with only 2300+ theaters. Right now I'm thinking 23M range.
