I thought it was supposed to be improved? After buying 06 and 07, I decided I wasn't getting 08 until it was really cheap. Live completely blows compared to 2K.

New Super Mario Bros.

Decided to play through it again to help with my Mario Obsessed nature at the moment. I've also decided to find all the Star Coins in each level before moving onto the next world. :D

Does anyone own New Super Mario Bros.? I know Korrgan does.

Well, I can't seem to figure out where the hell the 3 Star Coins are in World 2-5. :nope: Haven't found a one. And one of the three, usually two of the three, are always easy to find. But I can't find any in 2-5. I think there may be a hidden passage somewhere that leads to another part of the level where all the Star Coins are, but I can't find it.

I might get this game soon. I feel like I'm mature enough to play it now. Plus I can't find my Mario Kart DS anywhere so a worthy replacement needs to be found asap.

Game: The Simpsons Game
Console: Xbox 360

Review: I am surprised by how much I have enjoyed this game. It's pretty basic go there do this, but what it lacks in complexity it makes up for in comedy. It's some of the funniest stuff The Simpsons have done in the past few years, and a lot of it looks nice, but some of the close up cut scenes are pretty bad, I guess it is split 75-25 excellent/bad. Still fans of The Simpsons would probably be more likely to overlook the issues with the game than non-fans.

Haven't really played 06 and 07, so, can't say how improved it is...graphics for sure...other things, dunno. Stick to 2k.

Live 08 is much, much improved from Live 07. Problem is it still sucks compared to 2k8.

Jericho - F

One of the worst games I have ever played in my entire life. The game is complete and utter dogshit. I got to play it for free and I feel like the developers owe me money for playing it.

The Orange Box - A++++++++++

The greatest value in video gaming history. Portal is a revelation. It's truely something unique. Half Life 2, Episode 1, and Episode 2 played together and in a row is the best single player game I've played this year easily eclipsing Bioshock. And Team Fortess 2 is pretty cool as well. Not as good as Halo 3's multiplayer, but much better than most. Could be my GOTY.

Guitar Hero 3 - B+

I like the set list in GH3 much better than GH2 but I feel GH2 played better. Co-op career is a cool addition and playing co-op online is pretty sweet. Other than that, it just the same old Guitar Hero. Can't wait to see what Harmonix does with Rock Band.

I almost have to agree that Orange Box definately could be my top 3 or even top 1 of the year. ITs back and forth with that and Bioshock for me

I tried that Jericho demo and yeah, it is complete ass.

I'm playing through Guitar Hero 3 right now, and it's the same old Guitar Hero, but co-op career is fun and some of the songs are great to play (like "Welcome to the Jungle").

Call of Duty 4 - A++++

Call of Duty 4 is simply SPECTACULAR!!!! One of the finest FPS, I've ever played. Much better than all of the previous Call of Duty's. I beat it on Veteran(what a pain in the ass!!!). Play time was around 10+ hrs but I could see maybe 5 hrs if you're playing on Normal. The multiplayer is outstanding as well. If there was no Halo, Call of Duty 4 would be the best multiplayer game on a console.

Mario and Sonic At The Olympic Games:

I was almost certain this would be a very simple game. You know. Press A as fast as you can to run really fast. Alternate betwen A and B to swin, etc. Well, it's the complete opposite. This is one complex game, unexpected. Each character have their own stats (Power, Speed, Skill, and Stamina). While that's not really new, the depth of the Olympic Games are. The easiest game (control wise) is the 100M Dash. You have to hold down B before the race begins to build up power to get a jump start, then release B when GO comes up. Then you have to alternate shaking the Nunchuck and Wii Remote up and down to run. The faster you shake, the faster you go. While this is the first game, and meant to be the easiest I guess. It's the only one I have yet to place 1st. Hell, I haven't even placed in the Top 5. Each games has it's own control scheme that utilizes practically every button on the Wii Remote. Plus moving/twisting/etc the nunchuck and Wii Remote. And on top of that, each character have their own controls in some games, such as the Swimming games. The characters swin differently, so you have to use different controls for them. One site said it was like an advanced Wii Sports or Wii Play when it came to the games. That's an accurate description. There are 9 total games (as far as I know) each having 2 or more variations. So there's a solid amount. And it's more than just games. There's a Circuit Mode. With 3 Classes, each with 4 Cups and a Hidden Cup. Place first in each cup, and you unlock stuff. And each cup consists of 3 different games, and the games within the games.

The Graphics are pretty basic, apart from the opening scene. Which is always good for the Mario Spin-Off games. See Mario Strikers Charged or Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour.

No problems with the game so far. It has a very sharp learning curve. For each game, for each game within the game, and for each character in some cases. So it really takes some time to adjust to since it's not jump in and play like Wii Sports.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Demo

Quite a solid demo. Im HOPING there is more to the gameplay (I thought there were some more puzzle type stuff), cause all the demo showed was waves of bad guys that you have to shoot down. But as to the gunplay, it works quite well. The cover system is solid. Ability to kill people in one hit if you get a head shot, check. So that's a plus. Has the same kind of damage meter as lots of recent others, instead of having a health bar the screen gets greyer the closer you are to death, and then if you cover long enough your bullet wounds magically heal!

The animations are quite fluid and of course the game is gorgeous. Would be more so if I had an HD-TV.

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn:

If you read GameInformer's review and 1UP's, they pretty much nail the game together.

I ended up getting into Fire Emblem after I learned that Marth and Roy in SSBM were from Fire Emblem. And so did many others, which resulted in Nintendo releasing the games outside of Japan. The Gameboy were great. Loved them. On par with the Final Fantasy games for me. I didn't get the Cube Fire Emblem, however. I couldn't find it near me, and when that happens, I usually never get the chance to play them.

Anyway, Radiant Dawn is very good. Possibly even more strategy than the Gameboy versions, and even more challenging. Because, in the Gameboy versions, when a member of you party died, they were gone, forever. And if one of the main characters died, then it was game over. Yes, sounds difficult. And it was. But it's a good thing. In Raidant Dawn, your entire party are the main characters. So, if one of them dies, then it's game over. So you are forced to apply more strategy to keep all members of your party alive. And the game is quite difficult. I had about 5 or 6 GameOvers in Chapter 1 before beating it. I usually get frustrated when stuff like that happens, but not with Fire Emblem. I just start all over again. And it's fun everytime, so getting Game Over is sometimes a good thing, ha.

As for the gameplay and whatnot. It plays just like the Gameboy versions. Except in 3-D. The maps options, and every other little thing that helps you out is bigger and better this time around too. The story is the typical RPG game story. No need to explain it. Just play an RPG. You'd think the reclycled storylines for RPG's would get old eventually, but they don't. And they don't have to invent new ways to play to keep going strong unlike other genres. Haven't played quite enough of it yet to determine if it's better than Fire Emblem or the Sacred Stones, since the further you get in these games, the bigger and better they get. I'm still fighting the generic soldiers mostly. So once I get deeper into the game, currently on CHapter 4. I'll be able to decide.

Only seemed one level long to me, but was a good 15 minute demo. Unless I missed something.

I tried the demo too but theres something about it that doesnt seem that interesting. Maybe because it reminded me something of that crappy game called Just Cause. The graphics do look neat but it leaves too little to desire with just me aimlessly shooting people with not much freedom in the game. I hope the game product is better than that demo, not that it was bad but it brought my anticipation down quite a bit

Call of Duty 4. B/B+

Pretty short campaign. Not as short as Halo 3 but it was mainly due to it being harder on some levels than Halo. Wasnt too big of a fan of military type FPS, I did like the game and thought that some levels were cooler than others such as trying assasinate the Ashad guy and making a run for it while shooting down 50 other men trying to chase you. I wish more of the missions were like instead of the standard infintrate this base and so and so. Thats were it sort of loses its excitement.

So I'm in the Making the Video stage of Guitar Hero 3 (medium, don't laugh heh) and... The Killers is a legend.. of rock? I like them and all but... LOL.

And it is not even a song from Hot Fuss, rather it's When You Were Young.

Super Mario Galaxy:

Picked it up early this morning. :D

The opening sequence is gorgeous. And fully explains why so many sites are raving for it's graphics. The Mushroom Kingdom finally got an upgrade. Assuming Peach's Castle is the capitol of the area, the area (town) around it is beautiful. But all that is disrupted before you can reach the castle. Won't say anything though, since I hate reading spoilers. Anyway, you soon find yourself up in space. You start off on this fairly small planet that gets you used to how the gravity system works. I don't know if any game has ever used this before. It's really cool. Well, once you complete the "tutorial" of sorts, you are off to the Space Observatory which serves as Peach's Castle in Galaxy.

The first Galaxy is pretty basic really. One thing you notice though is that when viewing everything, you can see EVERYTHING. It's not like when you get closer things come into view, or anything. Everything is visiable despite there being many small planets around the bigger ones in the galaxy. And the first star here is fun. It's a boss battle. Yes, the first star is a boss battle. And it's not like the Giant Bomb in Mario 64. Which was impossible to die since it didn't do any damage or anything. I died once fighting this thing. Don't wnat to ruin anything, so I wont say what it is. Well, it's about as large as the planet you are fighting it on, and you have to run around the planet avoiding it. And run behind it and hit it's "tail". After you do this, he speeds up and it becomes harder. Do it 3x and he's defeated. One thing that is different than a World (Now Galaxies I suppose) is that each does NOT have the 6 Star thing. Each Galaxy has several planets which consists of a number of stars on it. The lowest is 1, and the most I've seen so far is 3. Not sure what it adds up to, but it's probably 6 or so total.

And when you get enough stars, you unlock other galaxies. The second Galaxy is very, very cool. It's where you find your first suit updrage, the Bee Suit. Which I like alot more than I thought I would. There is honey on some of the walls, and you are able to grab onto it and climb when you have the Bee Suit on. And it allows you to fly. Pretty cool. And this galaxy is more beautiful than the first.

When you get 8 Stars, like in Mario 64, you are able to go to the Bowser Stage. I don't want to spoil anything..hmm. Well, I wont say if Bowser is there or not. But there is this GIANT robot that you must battle. It's like Shadow of Colosseus. You have to scale the Boss and figure out a way to defeat it. Very neat.

I have a total of 11 Stars now, and have unlocked another Galaxy which I'm expecting to have plenty of water.

So far, impossible to complain. The only thing I would complain about, well, it's not a complaint since I didn't mind it in Super Mario Sunshine. When you choose a star to get in a galaxy, you can only get that star. Like in Sunshine. Unlike in Mario 64 when if you went to a world you were able to get any star you could find.

One quick question about Galaxy: are there still those "collect 100 coin" star challenges? I've grown to despise them, largely due to a bad experience trying to get the 100-coin star in the Tick Tock Clock level in SM64.
