11:00-12:30 Warner Bros. Pictures Presents In person, stars Hilary Swank and Anna Sophia Robb, director Stephen Hopkins, and producer Joel Silver of The Reaping, a supernatural thriller in which Hilary plays a world-renowned expert in disproving religious phenomena. But when she investigates a small Louisiana town that is suffering from what appear to be the Biblical plagues, she realizes that science cannot explain what is happening. Plus: Bryan Singer Returns! Please welcome long-time friend of Comic-Con director Bryan Singer to answer your questions about Superman Returns and give you an idea of what's next. Hall H What's next?? I'll tell ya what's next: Getting rid of Bryan Singer and bringing someone in to give the Man of Heart some much need Testosterone and transform him in The Man of Steel for heaven sakes.. Seriously, WB has no business even talking sequel for the major disappointment this movie was and a box office disaster and should call it a day and realize there just isn't any interest in this character like they thought.. Hell, even Christian Bale won't work with Routh now after that dismal box office slaughtering he took from some Pirates..
Drop the writers, drop the pretention, drop Lois Lane and her damned family, give Superman a non-bland love interest, drop an hour from the runtime, drop Spacey, add a real villain who can give Superman a run for his money. Tell Singer to make his own film instead of Richard Donner's and to do it for under 150M. If he can't do all of the above - good bye.

Well, looks like the chances at $200 million are almost gone. I expect a drop of 47% next weekend.
Worldwide probably $450 million.

Quote: At least, not at Warner Bros. Pictures. After a $225 million "Pirates of the Caribbean" sailed into port, taking the wind out of "Superman Returns'" $205 million Spandex, Warner Bros. executives are said to be circumspect as to whether the Man of Steel will fly again.
Talent agency insiders with ties to the film tell TMZ that Warner Bros. Pictures president and COO Alan Horn has informed agents that a sequel hinges on whether grosses of "Superman Returns" can crest the $200 million mark domestically. What's more, the studio plans to shave millions - many millions - off any "Superman" sequel's budget. (Amusingly, in the current "Superman Returns," Lois Lane pleads with Lex Luthor, "But millions will die! " It turns out she was right on the money.)

cause so much shit was cut out. the very expensive krypton scenes, tons of rescues in the earthquake. we saw no superman molding the crane to stop colapsing building, we saw no superman saving japan fishing boat from tidal wave, yet all was filmed.

To tell you the truth, I didn't care about the storyline at all, it wasn't worth $250 m to make with that story. I was explaining to friends what Lex Luther's idea was, as they were curious, and I told them, and we all laughed about. It was really, really, weak.
SPOILER:
He throws magic sticks in the water and then land pops up....
I guess Jack got beans, and Superman got magic sticks.
But I'll give them a chance for a "do over" with a sequel, and pay to see another one, but if they mess that one up to, I don't mind waiting 19 years for the 3rd one...

I saw the first film, but not the second (close to 10 years ago). But even so, I think $250 m should have started out with another story than that...

I guess, but I found it to be a homage of some sorts to the first two films. Luthor finally seemed to come up with a fesiable real-estate plan after years of trying, even though it seems none of the land could be hospitible.

Does someone here run Kal-El.org, or are we just becoming more noticed?

The worldwide total isn't courtesy of Box Office Mojo.com (Which is what I think most websites go on). It's courtesy/powered by WorldofKJ.com. It's on the top right of the page, right below the money amount.

I'm not a huge Superman fan, but some of the hate against Superman is unbelievable. When is the last time a movie that will go on to gross 190+ million been panned by this board so much. I know there's a bunch of POTC loonies, but the hate is incredible. Yea the budget was huge, but it's not like Superman is 2006's version of Waterworld. Last time I checked, a 190 million total would put it at the 78th highest grossing movie of all time. If that's as disastrous as some of you claim, then I really have lost faith in this forum.
