Quote:
The Perfect Man is a 2005 romantic comedy film directed by Mark Rosman and written by Gina Wendkos. It stars Hilary Duff, Heather Locklear and Chris Noth. Filming of the movie began in May 2004. The film received mostly negative reviews from critics and did not live up to box office expectations, making little above $19,000,000 worldwide.

Teenager Holly Hamilton (Hilary Duff) is tired of moving every time her single mom Jean (Heather Locklear) is through with her latest mistake of a man. To prevent her mother from making another bad decision, Holly has an idea: create a secret admirer who is the perfect man. But things spin out of control and Holly has to improvise.

This really is "the best Hilary Duff movie ever." I really enjoyed it, very cute and the acting was actually decent, besides Hilary Duff who still can't act. I'll buy it when it comes out on dvd.

7/10 (B)

The Perfect Man was pretty bad. The only good performance came out of Locklear, and it wasn't anything great. The story was incredibly flawed, the supporting cast was useless, and the comedy (other than maybe one scene) wasn't there. D+

Oh, and Hilary Duff continues to suck and ruin her career...

Glad I'm not the only person who thought Locklear was pretty good. I just thought it was a cute, funny film. What scene are you talking about?

*spoilers*
The scene with the flower?
*end spoilers*

Yeah, the random guy who stole the flowers. Stupid scene, but I cracked up.

I liked it quite a lot. I thought Hilary Duff did a great job, and Heather Locklear was great too. I thought it was funny, and very cute. Of course its for a younger audience, but I really enjoyed it. It is definitely full of cliches, but what film isn't? It turned out to be a lot better than I was expecting.

B+

This post is a little late (I saw the movie June 17th) but oh well.

The film was rather bland and imminently forgettable. The plot was nothing we have not seen before (did like the subplot with Duff's boyfriend though) and the humor mostly falls flat. I especially couldn't stand the scene where Duff, Locklear, and Wallace (the youngest daughter) dance. Such scenes are always gag-inducing (it looks like 'Must Love Dogs' has a similar scene as the trailer shows what appears to be Diane Lane dancing with others). Directors and writers should know by now that such scenes never work and instead just alienate a high percentage of your audience (guys dragged to the film by their significant other especially).

The performances are a mixed bag. I enjoyed Chris Noth's performance as he has the necessary intellect to rise above even the weakest material. As for Locklear and Duff, they've both given much better performances in other films. They certainly aren't aided by a screenplay that paints both of them as overly whiny and self-centered. I cannot recount a romantic comedy where the two main characters were this self-absorbed. Duff's character constantly whines that she doesn't get her way and Locklear's character constantly does whatever she wants, never seeming to consider how it'll affect her family. Yuck.

4/10
