Jurassic Park III

Quote:
Jurassic Park III is a 2001 American science fiction film and the third of the Jurassic Park franchise. It is the only film in the series that is neither directed by Steven Spielberg nor based on a book by Michael Crichton, though numerous scenes in the movie were taken from Crichton's two books, Jurassic Park and The Lost World. The film takes place on Isla Sorna in the Central American pacific coast, the island from the second film, after a divorced couple tricks Dr. Alan Grant into helping them find their son.

After the success of Jurassic Park, Joe Johnston asked Steven Spielberg if he could direct the film adaptation of The Lost World, the sequel to Jurassic Park. While Spielberg wanted to do the project, he promised to give the helm of the second sequel to Johnston. Spielberg stayed involved with the film by becoming the executive producer. Three years after the release of The Lost World, production of the third film began in August 2000. Although a commercial success, the film was released to mixed reviews.

Horrible, worse than The Lost World...which is really saying a lot. They tried to turn the movie into a family film, and it did horribly at that. I mean the idea that the kid would stay alive on the island for that long...COME ON. Also, there was never any real suspense (you knew all of the main characters were going to make it out alive). Finally the ending really upset me, the U.S. Army would not believe a paleobotonist calling them and telling them that her ex-boyfriend was stuck on Isla Nubla, they would probaley have her locked up. In this rant, I am just saying I was just so let down with the entire movie. I did like the idea of T-Rex fighting off Spineasaurus (sp), but the fight could have been a big selling point but it was so anti-climatic

After seeing this movie, I think they should make a good JP4...just so people can get the bad taste in their mouth...Bring Back Vince Vaughn

They could have a really nice cast for JP4 if they bring back everyone, and I mean everyone... Jeff Goldblum, Vince Vaughn, William H. Macy, Sam Neil, Laura Dern, Richard Attenborough, Samuel L. Jackson (somehow still alive  ), Wayne Knight (again, still alive, yet blind  ), and Julianne Moore.

The third part of the Jurassic Park series is not as bad as everyone says it is. I really liked it because of all the action, and the story was OK. The movie was waay too short and it looked like something was cut out of the end, for production costs. I think there should have been a big 30 minute part at the end with the military fending off dinosaurs.

Grade: B+

Crappy as a JP film, and average alone. I give it a C. Completely forgettable and a waste.

I enjoyed it in the theater, but when I recently watched it again on DVD, it just seemed really mediocre. It just seemed to be running from one place to another being pursued by dinosaurs. I would grade it a B-/C+.

I don't really remember much about it, but it was alright.

I found it enjoyable, though nowhere near as good as the first. This and The Lost World are both about the same. Both were highly entertaining, but don't match up to the original.

My Grade: B+

A pretty good follow-up to The Lost World. Although it is my least favorite of the series it is still very entertaining. The action sequences are great, and the dinosaurs look amazing. The plot is a little contrived and stupid, but its an entertaining movie regardless. Joe Johnston worked with what he had, and he did an adequate job. He is no Steven Spielberg though.

Just watched this last night. A lot better than The Lost World but still nowhere near the original. Unbelievable at times but Johnston worked with what he had. The tyradactles (SP) were also great. Bring on JP4!!

I remember comparing this movie to a slasher movie.... only with dinosaurs.

It has its moments, but it's mostly pretty lame. Still better than The Lost World, though.

I remember liking this one more than the 2nd, but while I really dislike Spielberg patent "Parent relationship" to its dumbest level yet, I can't get pass this ones awful ending, and real lack of kills. That trumps my problems with Lost World, when looking back was the first film to have that Phantom Menace letdown kind of thing.

You wonder why Hollywood has so much shit it's because people like you accept shit like this.

Complete shill from the start and yet "Action is great". Hope you all have Wrath of the Titans under your blankets keeping you warm at night.

Jurassic Park III

A soppy ending and I hated it when Eric turned into Indian Jones, but on the whole it was fun. Not as cutthroat as I'd have liked it. Not as good as the first two.

Yep.

When I saw in cinemas in 2001, I didn't think it was very good at all, so when I graded it in 2005, it got a "C". Now I watched it yesterday, I feel that it's not as bad as I thought before. Perhaps when I saw it in cinemas, I was comparing it too much to the original two. Yesterday, I took it on it sown merit.

This has such an abrupt, anticlimactic ending. And I always found the running bit with the phone inside the Spinosaurus idiotic.

I do, too, particularly in My Brilliant Career and The Piano. I would love to see him get juicier film roles more often.
